摘要
本文通过考察残雪小说馆藏分布情况,分析专业读者和普通读者评论,对其在英语世界的传播与接受情况进行实证研究。研究发现,残雪小说在英语世界的传播与接受良好,但尚不尽如人意,影响力仍较有限:一是传播范围主要集中在美国;二是受众以专业读者为主。此外,在残雪的10部小说英译单行本中,《五香街》和《最后的情人》的译介效果最为突出。基于此,本文进而为中国文学外译提供些许启示,如加强译介效果实证研究、加强出版合作、加强目标受众培养以及加强多元主体参与等。
Tipped as a front-runner for the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2019 and 2020,Can Xue is one of the most translated contemporary Chinese writers.However,behind the buzz around the translation and publishing of Can Xue's works,how are they disseminated and received overseas?Therefore,this paper intends to conduct an empirical study on the dissemination and reception of Can Xue's fictions in the English-speaking world,based on an investigation of their library collections,book reviews by professional readers as well as comments by common readers.It is found that Can Xue's fictions in the English-speaking world are well-received.However,it is still unsatisfactory with insufficient influence:the scope of their dissemination is still limited to the United States;they are mainly received by professional readers rather than common readers.Besides,there is a big difference among different works in terms of their dissemination and reception.Among Can Xue's ten fictions,Five Spice Street and The Last Lover are the most readily received.Furthermore,this paper offers some insights and references for the translation of Chinese literature,such as strengthening the empirical research on the translation effect,publishing cooperation,target reader cultivation,and multi-subject participation.
