摘要
《中庸》可分为上下篇,上篇论“忠”(中),下篇论“诚”,二者具有一体二面性。一体性是:在达到孔子对正确内心的规定后,通过真诚但无言的方式化育百姓,进而安排人间秩序。二面性是:两套并行的、对“一体”的认知范式,具体表现为对方法论的侧重和对人性论的侧重。正确认识“忠”与“诚”的一体二面性,有助于理解孟子论“诚”不论“忠”的现象。同时,《朱子语类》中也有这种观点,并对此从认识论范畴突破到了本体论范畴。
The Doctrine of the Mean can be divided into two chapters,the first of which is about loyalty,and the second one is about sincerity.These two concepts possess a unity and duality.Unity lies in the process of nurturing people through sincere but unspoken means after they achieve Confucius’stipulation of the right inner self,thereby the wold order is established.The duality refers to two parallel cognitive paradigms concerning the unity,which is manifested in the emphasis on methodology and understanding of human nature.A correct understanding of the unity and duality of“loyalty”and“sincerity”helps to understand the phenomenon of Mencius’discussion of“sincerity”regardless of“loyalty”.Additionally,this viewpoint is also found in the works of Classified Conversations of Master Zhu,which expands its scope from epistemological considerations to ontological considerations.
