摘要 INTRODUCTION The medulla oblongata is located at the lowest end of the brainstem.Damage to the ambiguous nucleus at the level of the upper medulla oblongata can lead to swallowing disorders, paralysis of the ipsilateral soft palate, larynx, and epiglottis, hoarseness, and unclear speech, known as true bulbar palsy or medullary paralysis.Difficulty swallowing during the pharyngeal phase is one of its most severe manifestations, which can easily lead to aspiration and aspiration pneumonia~1.In true bulbar palsy, speech disorders and swallowing difficulties are the most hazardous, potentially leading to dehydration.
