This paper presents a comprehensive study that includes the sizing and power flow by series and parallel inverters in a distributed generation system(DGs)that integrates the system of hybrid wind photovoltaic with a unified power quality conditioner(UPQC).In addition to supplying active power to the utility grid,the system of hybrid wind photovoltaic functions as a UPQC,compensating reactive power and suppressing the harmonic load currents.Additionally,the load is supplied with harmonic-free,balanced and regulated output voltages.Since PVWind-UPQC is established on a dual compensation scheme,the series inverter works like a sinusoidal current source,while the parallel inverter works like a sinusoidal voltage source.Consequently,a smooth alteration from interconnected operating modes to island operating modes and vice versa can be achieved without load voltage transients.Since PV-Wind-UPQC inverters handle the energy generated through the hybrid wind photovoltaic system and the energy demanded through the load,the converters should be sized cautiously.A detailed study of the flow of power via the PV-Wind-UPQC is imperative to gain a complete understanding of the system operation and the proper design of the converters.Thus,curves that allow the sizing of the power converters according to the power flow via the converters are presented and discussed.Simulation results are presented to assess both steady state and dynamic performances of the grid connected hybrid system of PV-Wind-UPQC.This investigation is verified by simulating and analyzing the results with Matlab/Simulink. 展开更多

Typhoons can cause large-area blackouts or partial outages of distribution networks.We define a partial outage state in the distribution network as a gray state and propose a gray-start strategy and two-stage distribution network emergency recovery framework.A phase-space reconstruction and stacked integrated model for predicting wind and photovoltaic generation during typhoon disasters is proposed in the first stage.This provides guidance for second-stage post-disaster emergency recovery scheduling.The emergency recovery scheduling model is established in the second stage,and this model is supported by a thermal power-generating unit,mobile emergency generators,and distributed generators.Distributed generation includes wind power generation,photovoltaics,fuel cells,etc.Simultaneously,we con-sider the gray-start based on the pumped storage unit to be an important first step in the emergency recovery strategy.This model is val-idated on the improved IEEE 33 node system,which utilizes data from the 2022 super typhoon“Muifa”in Zhoushan,Zhejiang,China.Simulations indicate the superiority of a gray start with a pumped storage unit and the proposed emergency recovery strategy. 展开更多

Green hydrogen production from wind energy in Far Eastern Federal District(FEFD),the Russian Federation

There is a gradual increase in the proportion of renewable energy sources.Green hydrogen has the potential to become one of the major energy carriers in the future.The Russian Federation,in partnership with countries in the Asia-Pacific region and especially China,has the potential to play a significant role in green hydrogen market.This study assessed the potential of developing green hydrogen energy based on wind power in the Far Eastern Federal District(FEFD)of the Russian Federation.Empirical wind speed data were collected from 20 meteorological stations in 4 regions(Sakhalinskaya Oblast’,Primorskiy Krai,Khabarovskiy Krai,and Amurskaya Oblast’)of the FEFD.The Weibull distribution was used to predict the potential of green hydrogen production.Five different methods(Empirical Method of Justus(EMJ),Empirical Method of Lysen(EML),Maximum Likelihood Method(MLE),Power Density Method(PDM),and Median and Quartiles Method(MQM))were used to determine the parameters(scape factor and scale factor)of the Weibull distribution.We calculated the total electricity generation potential based on the technical specifications of the three wind turbines:Senvion 6150 onshore,H165-4.0 MW,and Vestas V150-4.2 MW.The results showed that Vladivostok,Pogibi,Ilyinskiy,Yuzhno-Kuril’sk,Severo-Kuril’sk,Kholmsk,and Okha stations had the higher potential of green hydrogen production,of which Vladivostok exhibited the highest potential of green hydrogen production using the wind turbine of H165-4.0 MW,up to 2.56×10^(5) kg/a.In terms of economic analysis,the levelized cost of hydrogen(LCOH)values of lower than 4.00 USD/kg were obtained at Yuzhno-Kuril’sk,Ilyinskiy,Pogibi,and Vladivostok stations using the wind turbine of H165-4.0 MW,with the values of 3.54,3.50,3.24,and 2.55 USD/kg,respectively.This study concluded that the FEFD possesses significant potential in the production of green hydrogen and,with appropriate investment,has the potential to become a significant hub for green hydrogen trading in the Asia-Pacific region. 展开更多

With the need to further interface DG (distributed generation) including WG (wind generation) to weak networks, it is necessary to establish a means of determining what is the most efficient quantity of WG that can be applied in order to maintain stability in the network. This paper establishes a concept that can be applied to weak networks. The aim is to estimate how much WG can be installed on weak networks as well as establishing characteristic responses to generation loss without and with faulted conditions. The main contribution is a thorough understanding of weak network limitation proved to be the most critical parameter in these calculations. 展开更多

The performance of DFIG-based wind generation systems that interconnected to solid networks is well understood and prevalent in Europe and North America. However, the application of these renewable generating stations to weak network has been examined in very limited occasions. Weak networks have a range of limitations from system capacities to CFCT restrictions which would need to be well understood prior to wind energy integration. Of particular interest would be how much wind generation could be integrated into a weak network prior to increasing voltage and frequency stability issues brought about by penetration issues. This paper introduces a simple and practical approach based on the equal area criteria to investigate the stability of weak networks. Simulation results that are presented to show the proposed approach is a viable preliminary assessment tool to determine system stability on weak networks with wind power penetration. 展开更多

To facilitate the large-scale integration of distributed wind generation(DWG), the uncertainty of DWG outputs needs to be quantified, and the maximum DWG hosting capacity(DWGHC) of distribution systems must be assessed. However, the structure of the high-dimensional nonlinear dependencies and the abnormal marginal distributions observed in geographically dispersed DWG outputs lead to the increase of the complexity of the uncertainty analysis. To address this issue,this paper proposes a novel assessment model for DWGHC that considers the spatial correlations between distributed generation(DG) outputs. In our method, an advanced dependence modeling approach called vine copula is applied to capture the high-dimensional correlation between geographically dispersed DWG outputs and generate a sufficient number of correlated scenarios. To avoid an overly conservative hosting capacity in some extreme scenarios, a novel chance-constrained assessment model for DWGHC is developed to determine the optimal sizes and locations of DWG for a given DWG curtailment probability. To handle the computational challenges associated with large-scale scenarios, a bilinear variant of Benders decomposition(BD) is employed to solve the chance-constrained problem.The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated using a typical 38-bus distribution system in eastern China. 展开更多

Power Evacuation from these remotely located DG’s remains a major concern for the power utilities these days. The main cause of concern regarding evacuation is con-sumption of reactive power for excitation by Induction Generators (IG) used in wind power production which affects the power system in variety of ways. This paper deals with the issues related to reactive power consumption by Induc-tion generators during power evacuation. Induction generator based wind turbine model using MATLAB/SIMULINK is simulated and its impact on the grid is observed. The simulated results are analyzed and validated with the real time results for the system considered. A wind farm is also modeled and simulations are carried out to study the various im-pacts it has on the grid &amp;nearby wind turbines during Islanding and system event especially on 3-Phase to ground fault. 展开更多

Mean values are recorded and stored for every hour using a data logger. For accounting wind turbine generator (WTG.) tower height, data recorded from S60 anemometer at 60 m height is used for analysis purpose. This paper analyzes the probability distribution of wind speed data recorded by maharashtra energy development agency (MEDA) wind farm at Ahmednagar (India). The main objective is to validate the wind energy probability by using probability distribution function (PDF) of available wind potential. The energy generated from wind for any time interval is equal to the area tinder power curve multiplied by time in hours for that time interval. To estimate the wind energy probability, hourly wind speed data tbr one year interval is selected. Weibull distribution is adopted in this study to best fit the wind speed data. The scale and shape paranleters are estimated by using maximum likelihood method. The goodness of fit tests based on the probability density function (PDF) is conducted to show that the distribution adequately fits the data. It is found from the curve fitting test that, although the two distributions are all suitable for describing the probability distribution of wind speed data, the two-parameter weibull distribution is more appropriate than the lognormal distribution. 展开更多

分布式风电源(distributed wind generation,DWG)和负荷出力的时序性和不确定性,将造成停电损失功率的时序性和不确定性,进而影响配电网供电可靠性。本文基于Monte?Carlo随机模拟,将考虑时序性和不确定性的停电损失可靠性指标引入模型... 分布式风电源(distributed wind generation,DWG)和负荷出力的时序性和不确定性,将造成停电损失功率的时序性和不确定性,进而影响配电网供电可靠性。本文基于Monte?Carlo随机模拟,将考虑时序性和不确定性的停电损失可靠性指标引入模型。建立综合考虑最小化DWG投资成本、最小化网损以及最小化停电损失的多目标优化配置模型。为了提高算法的收敛性能,采用改进多目标粒子群优化算法求解。该算法运用小生境技术进行多目标全局寻优,同时利用NSGA-II非支配排序策略和拥挤度距离选择最优粒子,引导粒子跳出局部最优。针对已获得的Pareto解,采用最短归一化距离的方法选择最终方案。最后,以IEEE 33节点配电网为例进行仿真实验,结果验证了所提模型和算法的可行性和有效性。 展开更多

为解决分布式风电接入电网带来的电压波动以及补偿装置谐波污染等电能质量问题,引入(inductance-capacitanceinductance,LCL)耦合型静止同步补偿器(static synchronous compensator,STATCOM)。针对系统非线性时变的特殊性和装置补偿性... 为解决分布式风电接入电网带来的电压波动以及补偿装置谐波污染等电能质量问题,引入(inductance-capacitanceinductance,LCL)耦合型静止同步补偿器(static synchronous compensator,STATCOM)。针对系统非线性时变的特殊性和装置补偿性能的提升,提出LCL型STATCOM基于过渡过程的并网点电压外环非线性PI与电流内环准-比例谐振(QPR)串级的双环控制。利用过渡过程降低信号起始误差,实现超调降低、响应速率加快;通过频率特性分析,设计了适合系统的QPR控制器参数。通过Matlab/Simulink平台搭建仿真模型,对比分析双PI控制策略下装置的电压波动抑制和谐波治理效果。仿真结果表明,该控制策略对系统电压波动和电流畸变率具有更好的抑制效果,能有效提升系统运行稳定性和电能质量。 展开更多

On-shore wind parks are typically connected to the high-voltage(HV)transmission system through a bulk transformer.However,wind generators may be connected directly at a medium-voltage(MV)level,such as a utility-owned primary distribution network,if the network is capable of sustaining the power flow and ensuring adequate power quality for its users.This paper presents the findings of a comprehensive study on the management of resonance in a utility-owned wind park in Costa Rica.The wind park is connected directly to the MV primary distribution network and has no shunt capacitor for power factor correction.The results demonstrate that such configuration has a higher immunity to resonances,as the total grid equivalent impedance perceived by the wind park is typically dominated by the absent HV/MV transformer and shunt capacitor bank.Moreover,the capacitance provided by the underground feeders of the wind park did not result in natural oscillation frequencies in the range of typical harmonic distortions observed in MV distribution networks that violated power quality standards. 展开更多

The foremost issues of 21st century are challenging demand of electrical energy and to control the emission of Green House Gases(GHG)emissions.Renewable energy resources based sustainable microgrid emerges as one of the best feasible solution for future energy demand while considering zero carbon emission,fossil fuel independency,and enhanced reliability.In this paper,optimization and implementation of institutional based sustainable microgrid are discussed based on cost analysis,carbon emission,and availability of energy resources.Various microgrid topologies are considered for addressing the most ideal solution.The metrological data such as irradiance is acquired from solar satellite data of NASA(National Aero Space Agency)while the data for wind speed is taken from synergy enviro engineer’s site.HOMER®simulation tool is used for modelling and optimization purpose. 展开更多
