The model couples the electromechanical coupling shaft dynamics, the bearing hydrodynamic lubrication and the engine block stiffness. The model is com- pared with the model based on ADAMS or the model neglecting the bearing hydrodynamics. The bearing eccentricity and the oil film pressure have been calculated under different hybrid conditions or at the different motor power levels. It' s found that the bearing hydrodynamics decreases the cal- culation results of the bearing peak load. Changes of the hybrid conditions or the motor power have no significant effect on the main bearing, but have impact on the motor bearing. A hybrid power sys- tem composed of a 1.6 L engine and a 45 kW ISG motor can operate safely.展开更多

Firstly, using the (max, +) algebra, a typical subclass of hybrid systems called max-plus-linear (MPL) systems is obtained. And then, model predictive control (MPC) framework is extended to MPL systems. In general, the nonlinear optimization approach or extended linear complementarity problem (ELCP) were applied to solve the MPL-MPC optimization problem. A new optimization method based on canonical forms for max-min-plus-scaling (MMPS) functions (using the operations maximization, minimization, addition and scalar multiplication) with linear constraints on the inputs is presented. The proposed approach consists in solving several linear programming problems and is more efficient than nonlinear optimization. The validity of the algorithm is illustrated by an example.展开更多

While these systems can be optimized within their specific topology (e.g. MPPT for solar applications and BMS for batteries), the topologies are not easily adapted to accept a wide range of power flow operating conditions. With a hybrid approach to energy storage and power flow, a system can be designed to operate at its most advantageous point, given the operating conditions. Based on the load demand, the system can select the optimal power source and ESS. This paper will investigate the feasibility of combining two types of power sources (main utility grid and photovoltaics (PV)) along with two types of ESS (ultra-capacitors and batteries). The simulation results will show the impact of a hybrid ESS on a grid-tied residential microgrid system performance under various operating scenarios.展开更多

This paper deals with modeling and control of a vehicle height adjustment system for ECAS, which is an example of a hybrid dynamical system due to the coexistence and coupling of continuous variables and discrete events. A mixed logical dynamical (MLD) modeling approach is chosen for capturing enough details of the vehicle height adjustment process. The hybrid dynamic model is constructed on the basis of some assumptions and piecewise linear approximation for components nonlinearities. Then, the on-off statuses of solenoid valves and the piecewise approximation process are described by propositional logic, and the hybrid system is transformed into the set of linear mixed-integer equalities and inequalities, denoted as MLD model, automatically by HYSDEL. Using this model, a hybrid model predictive controller (HMPC) is tuned based on online mixed-integer quadratic optimization (MIQP). Two different scenarios are considered in the simulation, whose results verify the height adjustment effectiveness of the proposed approach. Explicit solutions of the controller are computed to control the vehicle height adjustment system in realtime using an offline multi-parametric programming technology (MPT), thus convert the controller into an equivalent explicit piecewise affine form. Finally, bench experiments for vehicle height lifting, holding and lowering procedures are conducted, which demonstrate that the HMPC can adjust the vehicle height by controlling the on-off statuses of solenoid valves directly. This research proposes a new modeling and control method for vehicle height adjustment of ECAS, which leads to a closed-loop system with favorable dynamical properties.展开更多

The proposed management system is designed to manage the power flow between the hybrid power system and energy storage elements in order to satisfy the load requirements based on artificial neural network (ANN) and fuzzy logic controllers. The neural network controller is employed to achieve the maximum power point (MPP) for different types of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The advance fuzzy logic controller is developed to distribute the power among the hybrid system and to manage the charge and discharge current flow for performance optimization. The developed management system performance was assessed using a hybrid system comprised PV panels, wind turbine (WT), battery storage, and proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). To improve the generating performance of the PEMFC and prolong its life, stack temperature is controlled by a fuzzy logic controller. The dynamic behavior of the proposed model is examined under different operating conditions. Real-time measured parameters are used as inputs for the developed system. The proposed model and its control strategy offer a proper tool for optimizing hybrid power system performance, such as that used in smart-house applications.展开更多

On one hand, HVDC has the advantages of economy, high efficiency and strong controllability. While on the other hand, it makes the dynamic characteristics of the power system becoming more and more complex. That puts forward a new challenge to system stability and raises new questions for power system simulation. This paper focuses on the interaction between AC and DC systems, especially the problem of commutation failure caused by AC system fault. Based on the data of China Southern Power Grid, this paper calculates the fault regions that may cause commutation failure and calculates the system critical clearance time under different load models, analyzes the impacts of different load models on commutation failure and the stability of AC/DC hybrid system.展开更多

In view of the fact that the traditional geological modeling technology can not establish the interrelation of carriers in three dimensional space, we have proposed a hybrid-dimensional mesh modeling technology consisting of body(stratum), surfaces(faults and unconformities), lines and points, which provides an important research method for the description of geometry of sand bodies, faults and unconformities, the 3 D geological modeling of complex tectonic areas, and the simulation of hydrocarbon migration and accumulation. Furthermore, we have advanced a 3 D hydrocarbon migration pathway tracking method based on the hybrid-dimensional mesh of the carrier system. The application of this technology in western Luliang Uplift of Junggar Basin shows that the technology can effectively characterize the transport effect of fault planes, unconformities and sand bodies, indicate the hydrocarbon migration pathways, simulate the process of oil accumulation, reservoir adjustment and secondary reservoir formation, predict the hydrocarbon distribution. It is found through the simulation that the areas around the paleo-oil reservoir and covered by migration pathways are favorable sites for oil and gas distribution.展开更多
