Certain features of breast can be extracted in different degrees and aspects from original images by applying four edge sharpening operators to the breast near-infrared imaging. A great number of cases prove that compared with the other three operators, the improved Sobel operator can effectively extract the structural features of the breast from an original image. The detection of hydrophobicity is an important way to evaluate the performance of composite insulators, which is helpful to the safe operation of composite insulators. Image processing technology is used to judge the hydrophobicity of composite insulators, which makes detection results more accurate and overcomes the subjective drawbacks of traditional detection methods.?As the traditional Canny operator requires manual intervention in selecting the variance of the Gaussian filter and the threshold, the paper presents a method of edge detection based on improved Canny operator. First, the adaptive median filter replaces the Gaussian filter, which can eliminate the impact from the variance of Gaussian filter and remove noise according to the characteristics of the image itself. Then the Ostu threshold method is used to select the best threshold automatically, which makes the edge detection be more continuous and reduce the presence of fake edges. The results show that the operator is applicable to all hydrophobic images. 展开更多

The detection result of </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">the </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">traditional Sobel operator is relatively accurate, but the detection result is rough and sensitive to noise. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes an improved eight-direction Sobel operator based on grey relevancy degree, which combines 5</span><span style="font-family:""> </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">×</span><span style="font-family:""> </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">5 Sobel operator with </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">a </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">grey relational degree and a new eight-direction grey relevancy method. To preserve the sharp features and details of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image effectively when despeckling, a despeckling algorithm with edge detection in nonsubsampled second generation bandelet transform (NSBT) domain is proposed. First, the Canny operator is utilized to detect and remove edges from the SAR image. Then the NSBT which has an optimal approximation to the edges of images and a hard thresholding rule are used to approximate the details while despeckling the edge-removed image. Finally, the removed edges are added to the reconstructed image. As the edges axe detected and protected, and the NSBT is used, the proposed algorithm reaches the state-of-the-art effect which realizes both despeckling and preserving edges and details simultaneously. Experimental results show that both the subjective visual effect and the mainly objective performance indexes of the proposed algorithm outperform that of both Bayesian wavelet shrinkage with edge detection and Bayesian least square-Gaussian scale mixture (BLS-GSM). 展开更多

The conventional methods of edge detection can roughly delineate edge position of geological bodies,but there are still some problems such as low detection accuracy and being susceptible to noise interference.In this paper,three image processing methods,Canny,Lo G and Sobel operators are briefly introduced,and applied to edge detection to determine the edge of geological bodies.Furthermore,model data is built to analyze the edge detection ability of this image processing methods,and compare with conventional methods.Combined with gravity anomaly of Sichuan basin and magnetic anomaly of Zhurihe area,the detection effect of image processing methods is further verified in real data.The results show that image processing methods can be applied to effectively identify the edge of geological bodies.Moreover,when both positive and negative anomalies exist and noise is abundant,fake edge can be avoided and edge division is clearer,and satisfactory results of edge detection are obtained. 展开更多

Analyzing the microstructure image of a brazed joint is a very important part of the quality control in products related to brazing aUoys. Edge detection techniques are introduced to analyze the bonding strength of the brazing alloys in this paper. Gaussian filter is used for image smoothing. The sharp edge map produced by the Canny edge detector is added to the smoothed noisy image to generate the edge image, which can show the brazing elements clearly. Using the Canny edge detector as a tool to analyze the bonding strength of brazed joint, the experiment results are robust with a very high level. Therefore, the Canny edge detector can be reliably used to analyze the brazed joint interfaces. 展开更多

A new model is proposed in this paper on color edge detection that uses the second derivative operators and data fusion mechanism.The secondorder neighborhood shows the connection between the current pixel and the surroundings of this pixel.This connection is for each RGB component color of the input image.Once the image edges are detected for the three primary colors:red,green,and blue,these colors are merged using the combination rule.Then,the final decision is applied to obtain the segmentation.This process allows different data sources to be combined,which is essential to improve the image information quality and have an optimal image segmentation.Finally,the segmentation results of the proposed model are validated.Moreover,the classification accuracy of the tested data is assessed,and a comparison with other current models is conducted.The comparison results show that the proposed model outperforms the existing models in image segmentation. 展开更多

The efficiency, and hence the reliability, of a facility system is to a large degree adversely affected by the edge failures in the network. In this paper, we consider facility systems' reliability analysis based on the classical p-median problem when subject to edge failures. We formulate two models based on deterministic case and stochastic case to measure the loss in efficiency due to edge failures and give computational results and reliability envelopes for a specific example. 展开更多

为了解决嵌入式软件不能对图像进行实时处理以及对带有噪声的图像处理效果不佳的问题,设计了基于改进Sobel算子的图像实时边缘检测系统,该系统在传统Sobel算子的基础上增加了检测方向和角度模板,并结合SCCB传输协议进行实时图像边缘检测... 为了解决嵌入式软件不能对图像进行实时处理以及对带有噪声的图像处理效果不佳的问题,设计了基于改进Sobel算子的图像实时边缘检测系统,该系统在传统Sobel算子的基础上增加了检测方向和角度模板,并结合SCCB传输协议进行实时图像边缘检测,进一步提高视频图像的传输速度和质量。系统以FPGA作为数字主控核心,使用OV5640摄像头采集图像,将采集的图像数据缓存到视频图像处理模块,对该模块进行色彩空间转换和Sobel边缘检测工作,将边缘检测的图像数据缓存到SDRAM读写控制模块,VGA驱动模块从SDRAM中读取数据并控制VGA显示器对边缘检测结果进行显示。实验结果表明:该系统能够完成对图像边缘检测的实时快速精确识别,相较于传统的Sobel算法,改进后的算法在处理复杂图像和噪声点较多的图像方面更有优势,适合低延时以及噪声干扰较为严重的场合。 展开更多

This operator can be used to extract the edge of 3D object in any window size,with more accurate surface orientation and more precise surface location. It also has full geometry meaning. Process of calculation is considered in the moment based method.We can greatly speed up the computation by calculating out the masks in advance. We integrate this operator into our rendering of medical image data based on ray casting algorithm. Experimental results show that it is an effective 3D edge operator that is more accurate in position and orientation. 展开更多

Based on a nonlocal Laplacian operator,a novel edge detection method of the grayscale image is proposed in this paper.This operator utilizes the information of neighbor pixels for a given pixel to obtain effective and delicate edge detection.The nonlocal edge detection method is used as an initialization for solving the Allen-Cahn equation to achieve two-phase segmentation of the grayscale image.Efficient exponential time differencing(ETD)solvers are employed in the time integration,and finite difference method is adopted in space discretization.The maximum bound principle and energy stability of the proposed numerical schemes are proved.The capability of our segmentation method has been verified in numerical experiments for different types of grayscale images. 展开更多
