In this study, an open-loop R-FOG is set up using phase modulation spectroscopy. First, the demodulation curve is obtained using a lock-in amplifier. From the demodulation signal,a gyro dynamic range of ± 4.2rad/s is obtained. Then, using different phase modulation frequencies, the open-loop gyro output signal is measured when the gyro is rotated clockwise or counterclockwise. The bias drift as a function of time is also measured. The fluctuation of the output over 5s is about 0.02rad/s. The drift can be reduced by taking countermeasures against system noise.展开更多

In the past, for the lack of appropriate technique to measure the deformation of rock structures, the measurement of deflection was restricted to just a few discrete points along rock, and the measuring points were limited to the location installed with displacement transducers. We developed a method to monitor the deformation of rock structures using fiber optical Bragg grating strain sensors. The sensors were embedded in rock layers of simulation experiment before the materials were put in. These sensors were then used to monitor the experienced strain with different face advancing distance. The test results indicate that, if properly installed, FBG sensors can survive under severe conditions associated with embedment process and yield accurate measurements of strains response. At the same time, we make comparisons of the data obtained by FBG sensors with those by centesimal gauge. The interest in FBG sensors was motivated by the potential advantages that they can offer more than existing sensing technologies.展开更多

Temperature compensation method is based on double FBG moored on a rhombus frame. Through the theoretical analysis, the relation between relative shift of Bragg wavelength and the strain applied on the sensor is obtained, and the analytical expression of strain sensitivity coefficient is also given. The experiment results show that: in the strain range of 0-0. 8 mm, the relation between the relative shift of Bragg wavelength and applied strain is linear, and the dispersion of double FBG wavelength at the range of -25℃- 60℃ is 0-0. 002 nm. The strain sensitivity of the displacement sensor configuration is 0. 171 nm/με, and is nearly twice than that of single FBG sensor.展开更多

The optimum membrane of the sensor consists of 100 mg of PVC, 200 mg of bis (2-ethytbexyl) sebacate (BOS) and 3.0 mg of LiTOE. The maximum response of the optode membrane for iodine is obtained in Tris-HCl buffer solutlon (pH 8.0). With the optimum conditions described, the proposed sensor responds linearly in the measuring range of 3.90×10^-2 to 3.90×10^-4 mol/L, and has a detection limit of 6.0×10^-8 mol/L. The response time of the sensor is less than I rain. In addition to high reproducibility and reversibility of the fluorescence signal, the sensor also exhibits good selectivity. It is not interfered by some common anions and cations. It is applied for the determination of iodine in table salt samples. The results agree with those obtained by another method.展开更多

In order to improve the measurement distance, the accuracy, the space resolution, the ability of multi-parameter measurements, and the intelligence of full distributed fiber sensor systems, a new generation fiber sensor technology based on the optical fiber nonlinear scattering fusion principle is proposed. A series of new generation full distributed fiber sensors are investigated and designed, which consist of new generation ultra-long distance full distributed fiber Raman and Rayleigh scattering photon sensors integrated with a fiber Raman amplifier, auto-correction full distributed fiber Raman photon temperature sensors based on Raman correlation dual sources, full distributed fiber Raman photon temperature sensors based on a pulse coding source, full distributed fiber Raman photon temperature sensors using a fiber Raman wavelength shifter, a new type of Brillouin optical time domain analyzers (BOTDAs) integrated with a fiber Raman amplifier for replacing a fiber Brillouin amplifier, full distributed fiber Raman and Brillouin photon sensors integrated with a fiber Raman amplifier, and full distributed fiber Brillouin photon sensors integrated with a fiber Brillouin frequency shifter. The Internet of things is believed as one of candidates of the next technological revolution, which has driven hundreds of millions of class markets. Sensor networks are important components of the Internet of things.
