The results show that, under conditions that the total noise power is always the same, regardless of point source, surface noise source, or body noise source, the corresponding noise attenuation trend along the mine laneway and attenuation curve shape are basically the same. However, the attenuation velocity corresponding to complex stereo noise source is slower than single point source and the noise pressure value is higher than the single point source. The actual noise of measured values is close to the theoretical value or, say, there is little error for complex stereo noise source, whereas the error to single point source and surface noise is higher, respectively.展开更多

We seek to reconstruct thermal anomalies only through their rough features. With this way our proposed algorithms are stable against measurement noise and geometry perturbations. We show on numerical simulations evidence that they are accurate and robust. Based on the differential techniques, the oscillator phase noise, which is the main error source for microwave ranging systems, can be significantly attenuated. Further, since the range measurements are derived on the same satellite, the dual transponder ranging system does not need a time tagging system to synchronize the two satellites. In view of the lack of oscillator noise analysis on the dual transponder ranging model, a comprehensive analysis of oscillator noise effects on ranging accuracy is provided. First, the dual transponder ranging system is described with emphasis on the detailed analysis of oscillator noise on measurement precision. Then, a high-fidelity numerical simulation approach based on the power spectrum density of an actual ultra-stable oscillator is carried out in both frequency domain and time domain to support the presented theoretical analysis. The simulation results under different conditions are consistent with the proposed concepts, which makes the results reliable. Besides, the results demonstrate that a high level of accuracy can be achieved by using this oscillator noise cancelation-oriented ranging method.展开更多

Measurements were carried out at Volvo aerodynamical wind tunnel on a Volvo XC60 production model. The configurations considered here are: side mirror On/Off with the cowl cavity open/closed. The results of exterior sound source mapping (with the intensity probe placed in the flow stream) have been compared with the results of the measurements inside the car. The contribution of the cowl area to overall wind noise level is measured in terms of AI% (Articulation Index) inside the compartment. It was shown that increase in AI by 2% could be attributed to the cowl generated wind noise. Transient numerical simulations of the turbulent flow around the car have been performed for all configurations. The results of the simulations show similarity to experimental results and give insight to the flow structures around the car.展开更多

The non-Gaussian LEvy noise is a kind of general random noise which is different from the usual Gaussian noise, and it has small fluctuations with the unpredictable jumps to describe the random fluctuations in an FHN model. SR is determined by the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and the numerical simulation results show the occurrence of the SR phenomena in the given FHN system. The influence of various parameters of the LEvy noise and the FHN model on the SR will be exam- ined, and some mechanisms of the LEvy noise-induced SR are presented which are different from those of the Gaussian noise.展开更多

The RNG k-e turbulence model and SIMPLE algorithm were applied to the steady simulation calculation of the flow field, and its result was used as the initial field of the large eddy simulation to calculate the unsteady pressure field. The FW-H noise model was adopted to predict aerodynamic noise in the six monitoring points. Fast Fourier transform algorithm was applied to process the pressure signal. Experiment of noise testing was done to further investigate the aerodynamic noise of fans. And then the results obtained from the numerical simulation and experiment were described and analyzed. The results show that the static characteristics of small axial fan with splitter blades are similar with the prototype fan, and the static characteristics are improved within a certain range of flux. The power spectral density at the six monitoring points of small axial flow fan with splitter blades have decreased to some extent. The experimental results show sound pressure level of new fan has reduced in most frequency bands by comparing with prototype fan. The research results will provide a proof for parameter optimization and noise prediction of small axial flow fans with high performance.展开更多

The transmission characteristic for a noise signal passing through spatial filters with different magnifications is analyzed by numerical simulation, according to the actual structure of the high power laser system. The results show that the spatial modulation period of low-frequency noise getting through the pinhole will be proportional to the magnification of the spatial filter. When the magnification is less than 1, the safe low-frequency noise will be extruded into the high-frequency region, which is the fast increasing part, and finally develops into the most dangerous part which can damage the optical devices. The conclusion of this research improves the relay imaging theory of a spatial filter and provides an important theoretical basis for a general design of high power laser systems.展开更多

The mechanism of the discrete fre- quency noise generated by the separated flow of the diffuser was analyzed. The optimized bare ratio was ap- proximately 17%. The flow separated inside of the diffuser generated discrete frequency noise owing to the inter- action between the reversed flow from the diffuser and the impeller rotating at the blade passing frequency. The diffuser outlet angle influenced the pressure ratio more than that by the bare ratio. Furthermore, it was confirmed that restraining the separation in the diffuser effectively decreases the fan noise.展开更多
