This study focuses on a chemical legacy plot in the shallow groundwater distribution area of the Yangtze River Delta in East China. Through data collection, field sampling, and laboratory analysis, the pollution characteristics of its soil and groundwater were investigated. The results show that multiple pollutants in the soil of the plot, such as chlorobenzene, 1,4-dichlorobenzene, etc., exceed the standards. Among them, the maximum exceedance multiple of chlorobenzene is 643.44 times, that of 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene is 840.38 times. The severely polluted areas are concentrated in the original production workshops. The pollutants exceeding the standards were detected within the depth range of 0~22 m, and the pollution has occurred in horizontal and vertical diffusion. Chlorobenzene, benzene, and chloroform exceed the standards in the groundwater, and the exceedance situation in the micro-confined aquifer is more severe. The research indicates that the pollution of the plot is closely related to the historical production activities of the enterprise. Risk management and control measures need to be taken. The research results provide a scientific basis for the subsequent remediation of this plot and the pollution treatment of similar plots.展开更多
