Emphases are put on analysis software,geometric and mass modeling,hydro-dynamic loading and its mapping,and analysis procedures. In addition,for the in-place analysis using structure analysis computer system (SACS),the procedure of Visual Basic for Application (VBA) is developed to map AQWA-LINE hydrodynamic loading to the SACS integrated hull/topsides model;for the in-place analysis using structure engineering system analysis model (SESAM),many computer aided applications are made to aid the post-processing. These applications have been used in structural analyses for a few TLP and semi-submersible plat-form topsides,and are briefly introduced in this paper.展开更多

As the requirerments increase to describe application processes in BPEL, BPEL documentt is getting more Complplicated. Therefore it is difficult to describe applications in BPEL with high reliability. In order to write highly reliable BPEL document, it is necessary to check if the document is working correctly in accordance with user's intention. But it is difficult to carry out the test since BPEL engine doesn't provide a profiling function. In this paper, we suggest a BPEL system with a real-time profiling function. The suggested system consists of an integrated development environment and a BPEL nunning environment. BPEL integrated development environment has a BPEL to Java(B2J) engine, which generates and executes a Java workflow program from a BPEL document, and a converter, which converts Java Weaving XML (JWX) documents to Aspect-oriented programs. The new functions are described in JWX, which is Extensive Markup Lan-guage (XML)-based document. Since aspect-oriented programming technique provides the way to modularize main and supplemental requirements, it guarantees the low degree of coupling between BPEL workflow program and new functions by weaving them. Our approach can be extended to add other functions to provide context-aware services.展开更多

It consists of the CATHENA (Canadian Algorithm for Thermo-Hydraulic Network Analysis), the control logics from C6SIM (CANDU 6 Analytical Simulator), and a communication protocol, PVM (parallel virtual machine). This is the first time that CATHENA has been successfully coupled directly with a program written in another language. The independence of CATHENA and the C6SIM controllers allows the development of both CATHENA and C6SIM controller to proceed independently.展开更多

One interesting source-sink ...For Finland, carbon dioxide mineralisation was identified as the only option for CCS (carbon capture and storage) application. Unfortunately it has not been embraced by the power sector. One interesting source-sink combination, however, is formed by magnesium silicate resources at Vammala, located -85 km east of the 565 MWe coal-fired Meri-Pori Power Plant on the country's southwest coast. This paper assesses mineral sequestration of Meri-Pori power plant CO2, using Vammala mineral resources and the mineralisation process under development at Abo Akademi University. That process implies Mg(OH)E production from magnesium silicate-based rock, followed by gas/solid carbonation of the Mg(OH)2 in a pressurised fluidised bed. Reported are results on experimental work, i.e., Mg(OH)2 production, with rock from locations close to Meri-Pori. Results suggest a total CO2 fixation capacity -50 Mt CO2 for the Vammala site, although production of Mg(OH)2 from rock from the site is challenging. Finally, as mineralisation could be directly applied to flue gases without CO2 pre-capture, we report from experimental work on carbonation of Mg(OH)2 with CO2 and CO2-SO2-O2 gas mixtures. Results show that SO2 readily reacts with Mg(OH)2, providing an opportunity to simultaneously capture SO2 and CO2, which could make separate flue gas desulphurisation redundant.展开更多

With the new trend of b...This research describes an integrated multi-channel high accuracy current control LED (light emitting diode) driver with low dropout regulator implemented in a 0.35μm TSMC 2P4M CMOS process. With the new trend of backlighting applications for mobile electronics and portable devices requiring a smaller size, lower cost, lesser noise and accurate current control LED driver, it came up with the idea of integrating more than one design features within a single chip. The analysis of using a capacitor-less low dropout regulator to power the constant current source has been explored, with the implementation of wide range battery voltage of 3 V to 5 V. Possible load current variations were introduced and verified to output a fixed voltage of 2.8 V. A regulated cascode current mirror structure forms the multi-channel configuration string of LED's; the design ensures a current matching of less than 1% error and achieves a high accuracy current control of less than 1% error, regardless of the LED's forward voltage variation. Moreover, for high end portable device with multimedia applications, dimming frequency can be set to 10 MHz. In addition, a switching output is a better approach for managing LED's contrast and brightness adjustment as well as maximizing power consumption, ensuring longer life for driving string of LEDs.展开更多

The proposed architecture logically includes 4 layers or components; they are layer of multiple data provider services, layer of data in-tegration, layer of backend services, and front-end graphical user interface (GUI) for spatial data presentation. On the basis of the 4-layered SOA-SDI framework, WebGIS applications can be quickly deployed, which proves that SOA-SDI has the potential to reduce the input of software development and shorten the development period.展开更多
