The mechanical properties and microstructures of die casting AZ91 alloy with combined addition of Y and Ca were investigated by optical microscopy, scanning electronic microscopy, X-ray diffractometry and mechanical property test. The results show that the combined addition of Y and Ca can refine the as-die-cast microstructure, result in the formation of Al2Ca phase and Al2Y phase, and inhibit the precipitation of Mg17Al12 phase. The combined addition of Y and small amount of Ca has little influence on the ambient temperature tensile properties, but increasing the content of Ca can improve significantly the tensile strength at both ambient and elevated temperatures. It is found that for AZ91-1Y-xCa alloy, the hardness and the elevated temperature tensile strength increase, while the elongation decreases with increasing the addition of Ca. The mechanism of mechanical properties improvement caused by the combined addition of Y and Ca was also discussed.展开更多

The self-assembled Sn-Co-C composites with nano-scaled microstructures were prepared via solution method and carbothermal technology. The morphology and physical structure were investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The as-prepared materials were assembled to half cell coin for the purpose of discussing the galvanostatic cycling, cyclic voltammetry and rate-capability performance. Results reveal that nanoscaled CoSn 2 alloys covered with Sn and C layer by layer are wrapped by cross-linked porous carbon network to form spherical microstructure. This distinguishing feature of Sn-Co-C composites provides a possible solution to the problems of Sn particle aggregation and poor electron transport, and has strong effect on improving electrochemical performance.展开更多

Some of the copper tailings can be recycled to recover valuable minerals. In this paper, a copper tailing was studied through the chemical analysis method, Xray diffraction and scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrum. It turned out that chalcopyrite(Cu) and pyrite(S) were the main recoverable minerals in the tailing. In order to separate chalcopyrite from pyrite in low pulp pH, ammonium humate(AH) was singled out as the effective regulator. The depression mechanism of AH on the flotation of pyrite was proved by FTIR spectrum and XPS spectrum, demonstrating that there was a chemical adsorption between AH and pyrite. By Response Surface Methodology(RSM), the interaction between AH, pulp pH and iso-butyl ethionine(Z200) was discussed. It was illustrated that the optimal dosage of AH was 1678 g·t^(-1) involving both the recovery of Cu and S. The point prediction by RSM and the closed-circuit flotation displayed that the qualified Cu concentrate and S concentrate could be obtained from the copper tailing. The study indicated that AH was a promising pyrite depressor in the low pulp pH from copper tailings.展开更多

X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and luminescence spectrophotometry were employed to characterize the crystal phases, particle sizes and luminescence properties of the as-prepared nanopowders. The results indicate that all the prepared samples crystallize in a hexagonal wurtzite structure. The ZnO:La3+,Li+ prepared by citric acid-assisted co-precipitation method has a particle size of about 80 nm, which is the smallest among all the samples. Fluorescence (FL) spectra of all samples exhibit three typical emissions: a violet one centered at around 400 nm, blue around 450 nm and 466 rim, and weak green near 520 nm. But the samples prepared by co-precipitation method show a strong and wide green light emission located at about 500 nm. The ZnO:La3+,Li+ nanoparticles synthesized by the co-precipitation method demonstrate relatively the strongest emission intensity.展开更多

The melting point of pickling sludge is about 1350℃ and the viscosity is about 0.14 Pa.s at 1450 ℃, which are comparatively lower than those of normal refining slag. After heat treatment, the contents of sulfur and fluorine in the pickling sludge were reduced, confirming the thermal decomposition of sulfate in the sludge. Fluorine in the sludge is reduced by the gaseous SiF4 and A1F3 generated through the reactions of CaF2 with SiO2 and Al2O3. The preliminary results from the reduction test indicate that the sulfur content in the steel is not affected by the presence of sulfur in the sludge. The recovery of nickel is about 40%, and the chromium content changes marginally due to the protective atmosphere under the reduction condition of chromic oxide. The pickling sludge is a potential auxiliary material for the production of stainless steel.展开更多

The samples were analysed by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The optimal conditions for preparation are as follows: the molar ratio of tetrabutyl orthotitanate to triethanolamine is 1 : 0.4, and the calcination and expansion temperature is in the range of 650--750 ~C. Under such conditions, the expansion volume of composites could reach 98 mE/g, and the mass loss ratio is less than 5%. The analysis shows that lower temperature and smaller particle size of graphite are helpful to the formation of anatase-type of TiO2, but larger particle size will lead to lower mass loss ratio, and higher temperature and larger particle size will lead to higher expansion volume.展开更多

The influencing factors of react temperature, contact time, sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and molar ratio of Na2 Si F6 to Na2CO3·10H2O were investigated. The optimum process involves the reaction of 0.075 mol Na2 Si F6 and 150 m L, 0.225 mol Na2CO3·10H2O(molar ratio of 1:3) at 85 °C for 90 min, and 2.0×10-3 mol sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) as additive. The results show that the purities of Si O2 and Na F at extraction yields of 96.5% and 98.0% are 91.0% and 98.6%, respectively. The obtained Si O2 were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM), Fourier transform infrared ray(FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis(DSC-TGA), N2 absorption/desorption(BET) and laser particle size analyzer. The result demonstrates that Si O2 particles have a high BET surface area of 103 m2/g, and a mean grain size of 985 nm.展开更多
