Deep sea floor sediment is a porous, unconsolidated, fluid saturated media. Therefore, the reflection and transmission coefficients computed by the Zoeppritz equation based on elastic media do not match reality. In this paper, a two-phase media model is applied to study the reflection and transmission at the bottom simulating reflector in order to find an accurate wave propagation energy distribution and the relationship between reflection and transmission and fluid saturation on the BSR. The numerical experiments show that the type I compressional (fast) and shear waves are not sensitive to frequency variation and the velocities change slowly over the whole frequency range. However, type II compressional (slow) waves are more sensitive to frequency variation and the velocities change over a large range. We find that reflection and transmission coefficients change with the amount of hydrate and free gas. Frequency, pore fluid saturation, and incident angle have different impacts on the reflection and transmission coefficients. We can use these characteristics to estimate gas hydrate saturation or detect lithological variations in the gas hydrate-bearing sediments.展开更多

In this study, a general governing equation is formulated for tracer gas dispersion in the bed. An analytical solution is derived to estimate the dispersion coefficients, Dxand Dy, in a horizontal plane. The concentration profiles at different sampling heights with various gas velocities are plotted.Subsequently, to estimate the dispersion coefficients, surface fitting of the obtained analytical solution to the experimental data is performed. The dispersion coefficients obtained from this model are compared with those of a conventional model. Additionally, the effect of walls, bed height and gas injection rate on the dispersion coefficients in a horizontal plane is investigated, and the effect of distributor design on the dispersion coefficients in a horizontal plane is investigated with different tracer positions. It is found that Dxand Dyare nearly equivalent at a lower tracer gas ratio of the injected gas to the total gas flow rate. It is also demonstrated that the effect of bed height on Dxis minor. This model is also able to estimate the dispersion coefficients in the case of a multihorizontal nozzle distributor.展开更多

Air streams containing toluene vapour with flowrates of 13.6 mL-min1 or 27.6 mL.min^-1 were bubbled through a 50 mL static oil in a glass tube at a temperature of 30 ℃ or 60 ℃. In experiments using the wetted wall column, air streams containing toluene were contacted with a falling thin film ofoil on the outer wall of a column with a diameter of 6.4 cm and two different contacting heights of 60 cm or 80 cm. Toluene concentrations in the air stream were adjusted in the range of 700-3000 ppm corresponding to a typical tars concentration in the producer gas. The phase equilibrium of toluene was represented as values of 1/tl of 326, 220 and 182 respectively for lubrication oil, palm oil and sunflower oil (H is Henry's constant with the toluene concentrations in g.L^-1 for liquid phase and g.Nm^-3 for gas phase). From experiments using the bubble column, it was found that the overall mass transfer coefficient (Kc, a) was in the order of 10.3 cm3-min^-1 and the overall liquid phase mass transfer coefficient (KLa)was about 10.3 cm3.min^-1. Although lubrication oil had a slightly better absorption capacity than the other two tested oils, it had a lower mass trasfer coefficient than that of palm oil. All three proposed oils had a much better absorption capacity and absorption rate than that of water used conventionally as a scrubbing liquid in a small biomass gasification plant.展开更多

The fabrication process mainly included silicon infiltration by ultrasonic vibration, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), siliconizing, liquid phase impregnation and carbonization. The wear and friction properties were tested by an MM-1000 wet friction machine. The results show that SiC phases are mainly distributed between carbon fibers and pyrocarbons as well as among the pryoearbons. The dynamic friction coefficient of the composites decreases gradually from 0.126 to 0.088 with the increase of the surface pressure from 0.5 to 2.5 MPa at the same rotary speed. Furthermore, under the constant surface pressure, the dynamic friction coefficient increases from 0.114 to 0.126 with the increase of the rotary speed from 1 500 to 2 500 r/min. However, the coefficient decreases to 0.104 when the rotary speed exceeds 4 500 r/min. During the friction process, the friction coefficient of C/C-SiC composite is between 0.088 and 0.126, and the wear value is zero after 300 times brake testing.展开更多

The Reynolds number is 4.0×105 in this calculation. The region is three-dimensional. Since the wind barrier and trains are almost invariable cross-sections, only 25 m along the track is modeled. The height of embankment ranges from 1 m to 5 m and the wind barrier is 3 m high. The results show that the wind speed changes obviously before the wind barrier on the horizontal plane, which is 4.5 m high above the track. The speed of wind reduces gradually while approaching the wind barrier. It reaches the minimum value at a distance about 5 m before the wind barrier, and increases dramatically afterwards. The speed of wind at this location is linear with the speed of far field. The train aerodynamic coefficients decrease sharply with the increment of the embankment height. And they take up the monotonicity. Meanwhile, when the height increases from 3 m to 5 m, they just change slightly. It is concluded that the optimum anemometer location is nearly 5 m in front of the wind barrier.展开更多

One solution is lean premixed combustion. However, the problem is that large excess air ratio may make the combustion unstable. A novel combustor with circumferential reverse flow of fuel gas is proposed for settling this problem. A 10 kw furnace is established to test performance of this combustor. Three factors such as primary air ratio, position of secondary air, total excess air ratio are studied. The emission characteristics and axial flame temperature distribution are studied. Basing on experimental results, the axial flame temperature and NOr emission increase with primary air ratio and axial length of second stream, and decrease with total excess air ratio. When the total excess air ratio is larger than 1.05, the combustor presents a lower temperature field and much lower NOx emission (less than 10 ppm).展开更多

The study included beds that were packed with pellets and monoliths, separately. The radial temperature distribution was measured at different beds heights and feed flow rates for both types of packing. Steady-state temperatures were measured using nine chromel-alumel thermocouples arranged on a stainless steel-cross. After temperatures were collected, the radial thermal conductivity and wall heat transfer coefficient were calculated using a two-dimensional pseudo-homogeneous model. The results showed that, the radial temperature profile at the entrance of the heating section was nearly even, and a constant temperature along the radius (0F/0r=0) taken as a boundary condition to solve the partial differential equation controlling the heat transfer. Temperature profiles obtained at elevated pressures were smoother at the center of the reactor and increased sharply near the wall, than profiles at atmospheric pressure. It could also be observed, that the radial temperature profiles in the center of the reactor using a monolith catalyst at elevated pressure were more even and smoother than those of pellets. Temperature profiles in fixed beds were found to be very sensitive to Ker and hw. In pressures between atmospheric and 10 bars, there was no change in the effective heat transport parameters (i.e. they are independent of pressure in this range). Both parameters were strongly affected by the pressure changes, above 10 bars. For the same Reynolds number (Ker) increased by 27% and 53% at 11 and 20 bars, respectively, in pellets catalyst. And they increased by factors of 2.3 and 4, when the pressure increased to the same pressures, in monolith catalyst. On the other hand, the effect of pressure on (hw) was completely the opposite, h,~ for pellets and monolith catalysts were found to be decreasing with increasing the pressure. Moreover, both coefficients increased with the Reynolds number at all applied pressures. This increase was higher for pellets than it for monoliths.展开更多

We implemented a data assimilation scheme called LETKF (local ensemble transform Kalman filter) with FSUGSM (Florida State University Global Spectral Model) and made an experiment to evaluate the initial condition generated to numerical weather prediction to FSUGSM model. The LETKF analysis carries out independently at each grid point with the use of "local" observations. An ensemble of estimates in state space represents uncertainty. The FSUGSM is a multilevel (27 vertical levels) spectral primitive equation model, where the variables are expanded horizontally in a truncated series of spherical harmonic functions (at resolution T63) and a transform technique is applied to calculate the physical processes in real space The assimilation cycle runs on the period 01/01/2001 to 31/01/2001 at (00, 06, 12 and 18 GMT) for each day. We examined the atmospheric fields during the period and the OMF (observation-minus-forecast) and the OMA (observation-minus-analysis) statistics to verify the analysis quality comparing with forecasts and observations. The analyses present stability and show suitable to initiate the weather predictions.展开更多

In special, it has a crucial influence on the thickness and uniformity in coating film, but may be subsequently responsible for the problem of splashing. The progress of industry demands continuously the reduction of production costs which may relate directly with the increase of coating speed, and the speed up of coating results in the increase of stagnation pressure in gas wiping system in final. It is known that the increase of stagnation pressure may accompany a harmful problem of splashing in general. Together with these, also, from the view point of energy consumption, it is necessary to design a nozzle optimally. And there is known that the downward tilting of nozzle using in air knife system is effective to prevent in somewhat the harmful problem of splashing. In these connections, first, we design a nozzle with constant expansion rate. Next, for the case of actual coating conditions in field, the effects of tilting of the constant expansion rate nozzle are investigated by numerical analysis. Under the present numerical conditions, it was turned out that the nozzle of constant expansion rate of p = having a downward jet angle of 5^0 is the most effective to diminish the onset of splashing, while the influence of small tilting of the nozzle on impinging wall pres- sure itself is not so large.展开更多

It is concluded that the optimum anemometer location is nearly 5 m in front of the wind barrier.
文摘In partially premixed combustion of gas turbine, the combustion temperature should be lowed in order to reduce NOx. When the total excess air ratio is larger than 1.05, the combustor presents a lower temperature field and much lower NOx emission (less than 10 ppm).
文摘The effect of operating pressure on the radial heat transfer coefficients, in a non-adiabatic fixed packed bed was studied at atmospheric and higher pressures, The study was concerned with investigating the effect of the pressure on the radial thermal conductivity (K^r) and wall heat transfer coefficient (h~) for both pellets and monolith catalysts. This increase was higher for pellets than it for monoliths.
文摘Data assimilation is the process by which measurements and model predictions are combined to obtain an accurate representation of the state of the modeled system. The analyses present stability and show suitable to initiate the weather predictions.

文摘The heat transfer performance of a mist/air jet impingement on a constant-heat flux surface was experimentally investigated. Two objectives were outlined in the current study. The first objective is to assess the effects of mist/air volumetric flow rate ratio, impinging mode and heat flux on the heat transfer characteristics of free mist/air jet impingement. The second objective is to assess the effect of swirl flow induced by the spinning grinding wheel on the mist/air jet impingement, simulating the heat transfer process on a grinding work-piece surface subjected to the mist/air jet impingement. The results show that the addition of dilute water droplets to air flow results in significant heat transfer enhancement.Once the mist/air ratio is increased to a certain value, the increase of heat transfer with the mist/air ratio becomes slow. For a given mist/air ratio,as the increase of heat flux, the contribution of droplet evaporation to the overall heat transfer is weakened relatively, resulting in a decrease of heat transfer enhancement in comparison to the lower heat flux case. The heat transfer coefficient in the stagnation region for the oblique jet is much lower than the normal mist/air jet impingement, while in the region away from the stagnation, the local heat transfer coefficient for the oblique jet is higher than the normal jet.As regards as the mist/air jet impingement in the vicinity of grinding zone is concerned, when the jet impinging direction is consistent with the rotating direction of rotating disk, the swirl flow induced by the rotating disk could entrain more droplets to enter the jet impinging stagnation zone, which is beneficial to convective heat transfer enhancement.Furthermore,as the rotational speed of disk increases, the temperature deceases in impinging jet stagnation zone.
文摘Gas wiping is a decisive operation in hot-dip galvanizing process. Under the present numerical conditions, it was turned out that the nozzle of constant expansion rate of p = having a downward jet angle of 5^0 is the most effective to diminish the onset of splashing, while the influence of small tilting of the nozzle on impinging wall pres- sure itself is not so large.

文摘The eight datasets of the summer (June-August) surface sensible heat (SH) flux over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) are compared on the time scales of the climatology, interannual variability and linear trend during 1980-2006.These data sets include five reanalyses (National Center for Environmental Prediction reanalysis,NCEPR1 and NCEPR2,NCEP climate forecast system reanalysis,CFSR,Japanese 25-year reanalysis,JRA,and European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts reanalysis,ERA40),two land surface model outputs (Noah model data of Global Land Data Assimilation System version 2,G2_Noah,and Simple Biosphere version 2 output by Yang et al.,YSiB2),and estimated SH based on China Meteorological Administration (CMA) station observations,ObCh.The results suggest that the summer SH on the TP differs from one dataset to another due to different inputs and calculations.Climatologically, the ERA40 and JRA distribute rather uniformly while the other six products show similar regional disparities, that is,larger in the west than in the east and stronger in the north and the south than in the middle of the plateau. The mean magnitude of the SH averaged over the 76 stations above the TP varies considerably among each dataset with the difference of more than 20 W m?2 between the maximum (G2_Noah) and minimum (ObCh).Nevertheless, they are consistent in the interannual variability and mostly show a significant decreasing trend corresponding to the weakening surface wind speed,in spite of the distinct trend for the ground-air temperature difference among the different data sets. These two consistencies indicate the particular availability of the SH products, which is helpful to the relevant climate dynamics research.

文摘The present paper does an experimental and numerical investigation of the hydrodynamic interaction and the response of a single point turret-moored Floating Liquefied Natural Gas(FLNG) system, which is a new type of floating LNG(Liquid Natural Gas) platform that consists of a ship-type FPSO hull equipped with LNG storage tanks and liquefaction plants. In particular, this study focuses on the investigation of the roll response of FLNG hull in free-decay motions, white noise waves and also in irregular waves.Model tests of the FLNG system in 60%H filling condition excited by both white noise waves and irregular waves combined with steady wind and current have been carried out.Response Amplitude Operators(RAOs) and time histories of the responses are obtained for sway, roll and yaw motions.Obvious Low Frequency(LF) components of the roll motions are observed, which may be out of expectation. To facilitate the physical understanding of this phenomenon,we filter the roll motions at the period of 30 s into two parts:the Wave Frequency(WF) motions and the Low Frequency(LF) motions respectively. The results indicate that the LF motions are closely related to the sway and yaw motions.Possible reasons for the presence of the LF motions of roll have been discussed in detail, through the comparison with the sway and yaw motions. As for the numerical part, the simulation of the modeled case is conducted with the help of the software SESAM.A good agreement between experiments and calculations is reported within the scope of trends. However, the numerical simulations should be further improved for the prediction of the FLNG system in the heading sea.

文摘Precipitation(PPT)is the primary climatic determinant of plant growth and aboveground net primary productivity(ANPP)for many of the world’s major terrestrial ecosystems. Thus, relationships between PPT and productivity can provide insight into how changes in climate may alter ecosystem functions globally.Spatial PPT–ANPP relationships for grasslands are found remarkably similar around the world, but whether and how they change during periods of extended climatic anomalies remain unknown. Here,we quantifed how regional-scale PPTANPP relationships vary between an extended wet and a dry period by taking advantage of a 35-year record of PPT and NDVI(as a surrogate for ANPP)at 1700 sites in the temperate grasslands of northern China. We found a sharp decrease in the strength of the spatial PPT–ANPP relationship during an 11-year period of below average PPT.We attributed the collapse of this relationship to asynchrony in the responses of different grassland types to this decadal period of increased aridity. Our results challenge the robustness of regional PPT–productivity if aridity in grasslands is increased globally by climate change.
