A new method using a single optical probe to measure the local solid flux is presented. The measurement of upward, downward and net solid fluxes was carried out in a cold model circulating fluidized bed (CFB) unit. The result shows that the profile of the net solid flux is in good agreement with the previous experimental data measured with a suction probe. The comparison between the average solid flux determined with the optical measuring system and the external solid flux was made, and the maximum deviationturned out to be 22%, with the average error being about 6.9%. These confirm that the optical fiber system can be successfully used to measure the upward, downward and net solid fluxes simultaneously by correctly processing the sampling signals obtained from the optical measuring system.展开更多

The results show that the wall roughness widens the particle velocity probability density distribution, enhances the redistribution of particle velocity into different directions, reduces the particle longitudinal mean velocity and increases the longitudinal and transverse fluctuation velocities and Reynolds shear stress. The effect of roughness on particle motion in the recirculation zone is weaker than that in the fully developed flow region. The effect of roughness for small particles is restricted only in the near-wall region, while that for large particles diffuses to the whole flow field.展开更多

The results show that the ash content of feed is reduced by 10% 15% and the organic efficiency is up to 91.78% by using the active pulsing air separation technology. The gas solid flow in the active pulsing air classifier was simulated. Meanwhile, the characteristics of particle motion and the separation process of different particles were analyzed, and the mechanical structure of the classifier was also modified to achieve high separation efficiency. Therefore, a novel high-efficiency dry beneficiation technique was advanced for coarse coal slime.展开更多

This paper presents an experimental investigation on the spatial distribution of average rotation speed for glass beads in the upper dilute zone of a cold circulating fluidized bed(CFB) riser. It is shown that in the horizontal direction, the average rotation speed in the near-wall area is larger than that in the center area, while in the vertical direction,it decreases as the height increases. The reason resulting in this distribution is analyzed by considering several factors including particle size, particle shape, particle number density, particle collision behavior, and the surrounding flow field, etc. The effects of CFB operation conditions on the spatial distribution of average rotation speed are also studied. The results show that the increasing superficial gas velocity increases the average rotation speed of particles in the near wall area but takes nearly no effect on that in the center area. The external solids mass flux, however, takes the opposite effect. It is found that the average rotation speeds of particles in both areas are increased as the total amount of bed material increases.展开更多

To predict the particle dispersion in the ga s jet is of great importance in industrial applications and in the designing of engineering systems. A large eddy simulation of the two-phase plane jet was con d ucted to investigate the particle dispersion patterns. The particles with Stokes numbers equal to 0 0028, 0 3, 2 5, 28 (corresponding to particle diameter 1 μm , 10 μm, 30 μm, 100 μm, respectively) in \%Re\%=11 300 gas flow were studied. The simulation results of gas phase motion agreed well with previous experimental re sults. And the simulation results of the solid particles motion showed that part icles with different Stokes number have different spatial dispersion; and that p articles with intermediate Stokes number have the largest dispersion ratio.展开更多

By performing dimension analysis and using the form of gas-particle interaction source term for reference, a new semi-empirical turbulence enhancement model by the particle-wake effect is proposed. The turbulence model is then incorporated into second-order moment model for simulating gas-particle flows in a horizontal channel with different wall roughness and a sudden-expansion chamber. The results show that this model is with higher calculating accuracy than another two turbulence models in comparison with the experimental results.展开更多
