Therefore the wave action cannot be neglected for the slope stability. Through simulation tests, the wave-induced dynamic response of the slope is analyzed. The soil body is taken as linear elastic body when it has a small deformation under the small wave action. Based on tests, the excess pore pressure and slope displacement under the loading in different wave period are analyzed. The ratio of dynamic strength and static strength to the breaking process of the slope is discussed. It is demonstrated that smaller wave period gives rise to a larger strain of the slope under the same stress. At different depth of water, different weakness effect on the stability of the soil slope is observed and the slope has an adaptability to the wave action to some extent.展开更多

The Timoshenko beam theory and the Euler-Bemoulli beam theory were implemented to draw out governing equation of beam. The interactions between the dam and the soil were modeled by using a translational spring and a rotational spring. A Sommerfeld's radiation condition at the infinity boundary of the fluid domain was adopted. The effects of the reservoir bottom absorption and surface waves on the dam-reservoir-foundation interaction due to the earthquake were studied. To avoid the instability of solution, a semi-implicit scheme was used for the discretization of the governing equation of dam and an explicit scheme was used for the discretization of the governing equation of fluid. The results show that as the slope of upstream dam increases, the hydrodynamic pressure on the dam is reduced. Moreover, when the Timoshenko beam theory is used, the system response increases.展开更多

The Paleogene mainly consists of sandstone with facies of river, delta, fan delta and littoral-shallow lacustrine. Diagenesis played an important role in the properties of reservoir rocks. Applying X-ray diffraction, on the basis of analyz- ing many cores and thin sections, the authors studied diagenesis of Paleogene sandstone reservoir rocks in kongl Menber of southern Kongdian in Huanghua depression. Diagenetic complexity shows that the sandstone in this area underwent compaction, cementation, isolation, recrystallization during the burying of sediments, and the first three compose the major diagenesis. The compaction and cementation led to decreasing porosity, and the solution of unsteady minerals also results in increasing in porosity.展开更多

Quantitative distribution of labile forms of P and apatite-P was examined in Pothwar Loess Plain, Pakistan where the degree of pedogenesis varied with relief. Four soil types, Typic Ustorthents(Rajar), Typic Calciustepts(Missa), Udic Calciustepts(Basal), and Udic Haplustalfs(Guliana), were sampled from three replicated locations at genetic horizon level. With the exception of total P value at surface, the mean total and apatite-P decreased towards the surface in Udic Haplustalfs and Udic Calciustepts where dicalcium and octacalcium phosphate increased toward surface. Iron(oxides and oxyhydroxides) adsorbed and occluded P forms were also in greater quantities in Udic Haplustalfs and increased toward the surface, whereas they were lowest and uniform in the Typic Ustorthents. Aluminum- and organic P correlated with soil organic matter. Apatite-P decreased exponentially with an increase in the sum of iron adsorbed and occluded P fractions, and fitted the equation M(x)= M0 [1- exp(-wx)] with r2= 0.996, where M(x)is the mean apatite-P concentration in solum, M0 is the apatite-P content in the loess sediments, x is the cumulative iron adsorbed and occluded P, and w is an empirical factor indicating the change rate of apatite-P in the loess. From the calculated apatite-P of 740 mg kg-1at the time of deposition, mean apatite-P loss was 60% in Udic Haplustalfs, 33% in Udic Calciustepts, 23% in Typic Calciustepts, and 8% in Typic Ustorthents. The transformation of soil P to labile forms was faster and deeper in level or slight depressions followed by gently sloping areas in wide plains, and was the least in the gullied land.展开更多
