The deepening of international cultural and humanistic exchanges has made translation indispensable in cultural dissemination. Cultural load words are unique manifestations of ethnic culture, carrying rich social and life information. The “going out” of Chinese culture cannot be achieved without the translation of cultural load words. Chronicles of a Blood Merchant is a long novel written by Yu Hua in 1995. Its English translation contains a large number of cultural load words that showcase distinct linguistic and ethnic characteristics. This study, based on the perspective of Eco-translatology, uses Andrew Jones’ translation as an example to explore the translation strategies of cultural load words in Chronicles of a Blood Merchant from the dimensions of language, culture, and communication. The aim is to analyze how the translator adapts to and optimizes the translation ecosystem to ensure the accurate conveyance of the source language’s cultural load words and content. Through this study, we hope to enrich research in Eco-translatology and provide a new perspective for the translation of cultural load words, proverbs, and folk idioms, thereby promoting effective intercultural communication and dissemination.展开更多
