Residue curves are used to analyze the distillating behavior, and appropriate operating region of the system is determined. Based on steady states simulation, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to detect the output multiple steady states in the system. Different solution branches are observered when the flow rates of the feed stream and the organic reflux stream are selected as manipulated variables. The performance of the column under different steady states is different. A method is oroposed to achieve the desired steady state.展开更多

T...Nitrogen and phosphorous concentrations of effluent water must be taken into account for the design and operation of wastewater treatment plants. In addition, the requirement for effluent quality is becoming strict. Therefore, intelligent control approaches are recently required in removing biological nutrient. In this study, fuzzy control has been successfully applied to improve the nitrogen removal. Experimental results showed that a close relationship between nitrate concentration and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) at the end of anoxic zone was found for anoxic/oxic (A/O) nitrogen removal process treating synthetic wastewater. ORP can be used as online fuzzy control parameter of nitrate recirculation and external carbon addition. The established fuzzy logic controller that includes two inputs and one output can maintain ORP value at - 86 mV and - 90 mV by adjusting the nitrate recirculation flow and external carbon dosage respectively to realize the optimal control of nitrogen removal, improving the effluent quality and reducing the operating cost.展开更多

Since the caisson foundation is quite close to nearby buildings, a system control model is established with source (sink) distribution and intensity being the object function, minimum requirements of settlement and deformation of surroundings caused by dewatering and dynamic water levels during different working procedures being constraints, and the design parameter of pumping wells being the variable,so as to lower the jeopardizing of surrounding buildings, which provides a new method for active control over settlement during dewatering. Such a method of dewatering based on system control model should be of significance for similar projects involving dewatering.展开更多

A real-time foot-end force intelligent sensing module with integrated sensing and st...The problems of attachment failure and detachment impact within gecko-like robots’ locomotion control are considered in this paper. A real-time foot-end force intelligent sensing module with integrated sensing and structure is developed to help the robot get the foot-end force information in time and realize stable locomotion in an uncertain environment. Firstly,a structure/sensing integrated elastomer based on a Maltese cross/cantilever beam structure is completed by designing and finite element analysis. Secondly,a real-time data acquisition and transmission system is designed to obtain the foot-end reaction force which is miniaturized and distributed. Thirdly,based on this system,a force sensor calibration platform is built to complete the calibration,decoupling,and performance testing of the sensing module. Finally,the experiment of single-leg attachment performance is carried out. The results indicate that the three-axis sensing module can detect robot’s weight,measure the reaction force with high precision and provide real-time force from robot’s foot end.展开更多
In order to design and predict the dechlorination processes for remediating the halogenated aromatic com- pounds in the biobarrier system applied in situ, an anaerobic continuous-flow column was set up with the introd...In order to design and predict the dechlorination processes for remediating the halogenated aromatic com- pounds in the biobarrier system applied in situ, an anaerobic continuous-flow column was set up with the introduction of an enriched 2, 4, 6-trichlorophenol (TCP) reductive dechlorinating consortium. The fates of TCP and its metabo- lites were simulated according to the first-order sequential dechlorination kinetic model. The enriched TCP anaerobic dechlorinating consortium dechlorinated 100 p.mol/L TCP to 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) via 2,4-dichlorophenol (DCP) in 10 d. The consortium was predominated with the phylum of Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, based on the PCR- denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis. After the consortium was applied to the colunm, the ex- perimental data in the steady state were fitted by the least square method, and the first-order dechlorination kinetic constants from TCP to 2,4-DCP, from 2,4-DCP to 4-CP and from 4-CP to phenol, were 1.58 d-1, 2.23 d 1 and 0.206 d-1, respectively. According to the fitting results, the required biobarrier width for the complete remediation of TCP, 2,4- DCP and 4-CP were 126 cm, 130 cm and 689 cm, respectively. The dechlorination/degradation of 4-CP must be in- creased when the technology is applied to the real site.展开更多
