Adaptive Self‐Tuning Fuzzy Controller for a Soft Rehabilitation Machine Actuated by Pneumatic Artificial Muscles

Pneumatic artificial muscles (PAMs) have the highest power to weight and power to volume ratios of any actuator. Therefore, they can be used not only in rehabilitation engineering, but also as actuators in robots, including industrial and therapy robots. Because PAMs have highly nonlinear and time‐varying behavior associated with gas compression and the nonlinear elasticity of bladder containers, achieving excellent tracking performance using classical controllers is difficult. An adaptive self‐tuning fuzzy controller (ASTFC) including adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control (AFSMC) and functional approximation (FA) was developed in this study for overcoming the aforementioned problems. The FA technique was used to release the model‐based requirements and the update laws for the coefficients of the Fourier series function parameters were derived using a Lyapunov function to guarantee control system stability. The experimental results verified that the proposed approach can achieve excellent control performance despite external disturbance. 展开更多

The control design, based on self-adaptive PID with genetic algorithms(GA) tuning on-line was investigated, for the temperature control of industrial microwave drying rotary device with the multi-layer(IMDRDWM) and with multivariable nonlinear interaction of microwave and materials. The conventional PID control strategy incorporated with optimization GA was put forward to maintain the optimum drying temperature in order to keep the moisture content below 1%, whose adaptation ability included the cost function of optimization GA according to the output change. Simulations on five different industrial process models and practical temperature process control system for selenium-enriched slag drying intensively by using IMDRDWM were carried out systematically, indicating the reliability and effectiveness of control design. The parameters of proposed control design are all on-line implemented without iterative predictive calculations, and the closed-loop system stability is guaranteed, which makes the developed scheme simpler in its synthesis and application, providing the practical guidelines for the control implementation and the parameter design. 展开更多

The principle of the gas membrane separation process and the influence of the operation temperatures are analyzed. As the conventional PID controller is difficult to make the operation temperatures steady, a fuzzy self-tuning PID control algorithm is proposed. The application shows that the algorithm is effective, the operation temperatures of both stages can be controlled steadily, and the operation flexibility and adaptability of the hydrogen recovery unit are enhanced with safety. This study lays a foundation to optimize the control of the membrane separation process and thus ensure the membrane performance. 展开更多

One kind of the SAW seam tracking system with contactless ultrasonic sensor is presented in this paper. The new contactless ultrasonic sensor for seam tracking and the working principle of the seam tracking with the sensor are introduced. Based on the experiments, the optimal values of the fuzzy control parameters α and k 3 are defined by means of the off line adjusting method. Because the self tuning fuzzy control is adopted in the seam tracking system, the overshoot of the system is restrained, the steady state error is reduced, and the system's response speed is improved effectively. The results of the SAW seam tracking experiments show that this system's tracking accuracy is up to ±0.5 mm and the system can satisfy the requirements of the engineering application. 展开更多

Simulation results show that the method can effectively cope with the uncertainty of flexible satellite by on-line learning and thus posses the good robustness. The control scheme addressed here is implemented to control the motion of the end effector of a two link constrained flexible manipulator. This paper presents a closed-loop vector control structure based on adaptive Fuzzy Logic Sliding Mode Controller (FL-SMC) for a grid-connected Wave Energy Conversion System (WECS) driven Self-Excited Induction Generator (SEIG). The aim of the developed control method is to automatically tune and optimize the scaling factors and the membership functions of the Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC) using Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithms (MOGA) and Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO). Two Pulse Width Modulated voltage source PWM converters with a carrier-based Sinusoidal PWM modulation for both Generator- and Grid-side converters have been connected back to back between the generator terminals and utility grid via common DC link. The indirect vector control scheme is implemented to maintain balance between generated power and power supplied to the grid and maintain the terminal voltage of the generator and the DC bus voltage constant for variable rotor speed and load. Simulation study has been carried out using the MATLAB/Simulink environment to verify the robustness of the power electronics converters and the effectiveness of proposed control method under steady state and transient conditions and also machine parameters mismatches. The proposed control scheme has improved the voltage regulation and the transient performance of the wave energy scheme over a wide range of operating conditions. 展开更多

Simulations and experiments using a real robot have been addressed to demonstrate the success of the proposed controller and validate the theoretical analysis. Obtained results confirm that the proposed controller ensures robust performance in the presence of disturbances and parametric uncertainties without the need for adjustment of control law parameters by a trial and error method. 展开更多

开关电源作为一种低损耗、高效可靠的电源装置,被广泛应用于工业生产、电子设备及日常生活等领域。针对传统的PI控制全桥电力电子DC-DC变换器的性能不能满足实际应用中自适应变化的需要,文中介绍了几种目前主流DC-DC变换器的主要拓扑结... 开关电源作为一种低损耗、高效可靠的电源装置,被广泛应用于工业生产、电子设备及日常生活等领域。针对传统的PI控制全桥电力电子DC-DC变换器的性能不能满足实际应用中自适应变化的需要,文中介绍了几种目前主流DC-DC变换器的主要拓扑结构,并分析了它们在系统中的性能。然后,介绍了相移全桥DC-DC变换器的运行过程,分析了传统PI控制方法的缺点,提出了一种闭环自适应模糊PI控制方法,其特点是根据不同的工作状态动态调整PI参数,实现了相移全桥DC-DC变换器的智能控制。在Matlab/Simulink中的仿真结果表明:模糊PI控制方式在负载突变、输出电压改变的情况下,其动态性能均优于传统PI控制方式;同时将输出电压的纹波系数大幅降低,提高了输出电压的精度。 展开更多

In order to overcome the big overshoot and long regulating time of the long time-delay system control, a new fuzzy self-adaptive PI-Smith control method is proposed. This method combines the Smith predictive control with fuzzy self-adaptive proportional-integral (PI) control. The traditional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller in Smith predictive control is replaced by fuzzy PI controller which utilizes the principle of fuzzy control to tune parameters of PI controller on-line. The results of simulation for electric furnace show that the method has the advantages of shortening regulating time, no overshoot, no steady-state error, excellent control accuracy, and good adaptive ability to the change of system model. 展开更多
