This alternative model treats the nine charged fundamental fermions (three leptons and nine quarks) as spheres with non-zero holographic radius. Holographic analysis (based on quantum mechanics, general relativity, thermodynamics, and Shannon information theory) specifies electron mass by five fundamental constants: Planck’s constant ℏ, gravitational constant G, fine structure constant α, cosmological constant Λ, and vacuum energy fraction ΩΛ. Protons and neutrons are composite systems of up and down quarks. Describing forces between quark constituents confined within nucleons as inverse square attractive forces, this alternative model identifies composition factors Cpand Cnto relate proton and neutron masses to electron mass and thus to fundamental constants. An appendix summarizes holographic analyses characterizing astronomical masses at the opposite end of the mass scale for objects in the universe.展开更多

Included in the list of differential diagnoses for these tumors are Schwannomas, which are benign tumors within the peripheral nervous system [1]. Schwannomas are uncommon within the upper extremity, and they are exceedingly rare within the hand and wrist [1]. We describe a case of an 80-year-old female presented with a soft tissue mass within her right thumb. She underwent excisional biopsy of the mass, and pathology showed features consistent with schwannoma. She had resolution of her symptoms thereafter. We discuss the differential diagnosis for soft-tissue tumors in this location. When assessing patients with soft tissue tumors of the hand and wrist, it is important for the treating provider to maintain a broad differential diagnosis in order to facilitate appropriate management of these lesions.展开更多

By combining energy and mass balance equations with heat and mass transfer coefficients and air psychrometric correlations, the model provides insights into the impact of design and operational parameters on the exchanger cooling performance. Validated against an established numerical model, it accurately simulates cooling behavior with a Root Mean Square Deviation of 0.43 - 1.18˚C under varying inlet air conditions. The results show that tube geometry, including equivalent diameter, flatness ratio, and length significantly influences cooling outcomes. Smaller diameters enhance wet-bulb effectiveness but reduce cooling capacity, while increased flatness and length improve both. For example, extending the flatness ratio of a 15 mm diameter, 0.6 m long tube from 1 (circular) to 4 raises the exchange surface area from 0.028 to 0.037 m2, increasing wet-bulb effectiveness from 60% to 71%. Recommended diameters range from 5 mm for tubes under 0.5 m to 1 cm for tubes 0.5 to 1 m in length. Optimal air velocities depend on tube length: 1 m/s for tubes under 0.8 m, 1.5 m/s for lengths of 0.8 to 1.2 m, and up to 2 m/s for longer tubes. This model offers a practical alternative to complex numerical and CFD methods, with potential applications in cooling tower optimization for thermal and nuclear power plants and geothermal heat exchangers.展开更多

Optimal air velocities depend on tube length: 1 m/s for tubes under 0.8 m, 1.5 m/s for lengths of 0.8 to 1.2 m, and up to 2 m/s for longer tubes. This model offers a practical alternative to complex numerical and CFD methods, with potential applications in cooling tower optimization for thermal and nuclear power plants and geothermal heat exchangers.

文摘Polygonati rhizoma is often used in Chinese medicine and as food.In this study, atmospheric pressure matrixassisted laser desorption ionization and quadruple-time-of-flight(MALDI-Q-TOF)mass spectrometry techniques were applied to P.rhizoma samples from Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua species.Positive ions were mainly detected in the mass range of m/z 200-600,while negative ions were mainly observed in the mass range of m/z 100-450.A total of 263 components were identified and the spatial distribution and changes in saccharides contents during the steaming process of P.rhizoma were investigated.Monosaccharide and disaccharide exhibit a relatively uniform distribution, while the oligosaccharides were mainly found in the bast of fresh P.rhizoma.Although the contents of monosaccharide and disaccharide were increased during steaming, that of trisaccharide, tetrasaccharide, and pentasaccharide were decreased. We used the 5 saccharide types with the greatest variation in content as variables for the principal component analysis(PCA)and cluster analysis. Both PCA and cluster analysis showed that these 5 saccharides can be used as markers in the steaming process of the P.rhizoma.Present study of mass spectrometry imaging provides novel insights into the spatiotemporal accumulation patterns of saccharides in P.rhizoma, improving our understanding of the steaming process.

文摘The isospin asymmetry and quadrupole deformation value of drip-line nuclei are investigated using the Weizsäcker-Skyrme nuclear mass formula. We observe that for heavy nuclei at the neutron drip line, the Coulomb energy heightened by an aug-mented charge could not be mitigated completely by symmetry energy because of isospin asymmetry saturation but is resisted complementally by strong nuclear deformation. The positions of saltation for the difference in proton numbers between two neighboring nuclei at the neutron drip line, and the isospin asymmetry of the neutron drip-line nucleus as a function of the neutron number distinctly correspond to the known magic numbers, which can serve as a reference to verify the undeter-mined neutron magic number.Through fitting of the binding energy difference between mirror nuclei(BEDbMN),a set of Coulomb energy coefficients with greater accuracy is obtained.A high-precision description of the BEDbMN is useful for accurately determining the experimentally unknown mass of the nucleus close to the proton drip line if the mass of its mirror nucleus is measured experimentally.
文摘Supplier selection in a mass customization environment is a systematic engineering, and Quality Function Deployment(QFD)based on customer demand is a systematic product development method. This paper studies the adaptability of the QFD method and supplier selection process in a mass customization environment and puts forward a supplier selection framework based on the QFD idea.Furthermore, both the objective environment of demand factor analysis and the thinking of the customer representatives participating in the analysis have great uncertainty and fuzziness. Therefore,a demand factor analysis method for supplier selection in the mass customization environment based on language phrases of different granularity is proposed. The proposed method allows the customer representatives participating in the selection to use their preferred language phrase set to represent the importance of demand factors. Finally, the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified by an example of a vehicle manufacturer.

文摘BACKGROUND:This study aims to explore the causal relationship of body weight, body mass index(BMI),and waist circumference (WC) with the risk of cardiac arrest (CA) using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR).METHODS:Data were summarized using genome-wide association studies (GWAS).Twosample MR analyses were performed using the inverse variance weighting (IVW) method, the weighted median method, and the MR-Egger analysis.Heterogeneity test and sensitivity analysis were performed using Cochran’s Q test and the leave-one-out method, respectively. The Steiger test was used to detect reverse causality.Bayesian model-averaged MR was used to identify the most influential risk factors.RESULTS:A total of 13 GWAS data were collected for BMI,body weight and WC.IVW analyses showed a positive correlation of body weight,BMI,and WC with CA (all OR>1 and P<0.05),with MR-Egger and weighted median methods confirming the IVW findings. No horizontal pleiotropy or heterogeneity was observed.Sensitivity analysis indicated that no single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) caused significant changes in overall causality.Bayesian model-averaged MR was also used to rank causality based on marginal inclusion probability (MIP),and the corresponding modelaveraged causal estimate (MACE) were confirmed, which indicated that WC (GWAS ID:ukb-b-9405)was the highest-ranked risk factor (MIP=0.119,MACE=0.011);its posterior probability was 0.057.A total of 14 sex-specific GWAS data on weight,BMI,and WC were analyzed in relationship with CA,and the MR results showed no significant effects of sex-specific factors.CONCLUSION:Body weight,BMI,and WC are causally associated with an increased risk of CA,with WC identified as the most important risk factor.

文摘The isospin splitting of the Dirac mass obtained using the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock(RBHF)theory was thor-oughly investigated. From the perspective in the full Dirac space, the long-standing controversy between the momentum-independent approximation(MIA)method and the projection method on the isospin splitting of the Dirac mass in asymmetric nuclear matter was analyzed in detail. We found that the assumption procedure of the MIA method, which assumes that single-particle potentials are momentum independent,is not a sufficient condition that directly leads to the opposite sign of the isospin splitting of the Dirac mass, whereas the extraction procedure of the MIA method, which extracts single-particle potentials from single-particle potential energy, changes the sign.A formal expression of the Dirac mass was obtained by approximately solving a set of equations involved in the extraction procedure. The opposite isospin splitting of the Dirac mass was mainly caused by the extraction procedure, which forcibly assumed that the momentum dependence of the single-particle potential energy was in a quadratic form,in which the strength was solely determined by a constant scalar potential.Improved understanding of the isospin splitting of the Dirac mass from ab initio calculations could enhance our knowledge of neutron-rich systems, such as exotic nuclei and neutron stars.

文摘Accurately predicting the powder factor during blasting is essential for sustainable production planning in low-grade mines. This research presents a method for predicting powder factor based on the heterogeneity of rock mass rating(RMR).Considering a low-grade metal mine as an example, this study exploited geostatistical methods to obtain independent RMR for each block unit.A three-dimensional spatial distribution model for the powder factor was developed on the basis of the relationships between the RMR and the powder factor.Subsequently, models for blasting cost and mining value were built and employed to optimize the open-pit limit. The multi-variable model based on the RMR performed well in predicting the powder factor, achieving a correlation coefficient of 0.88(root mean square error of 4.3)and considerably outperforming the uniaxial compressive strength model. After model optimization, the mean size and standard deviation of the fragments in the blast pile decreased by 8.5%and 35.1%,respectively,whereas the boulder yield and its standard deviation decreased by 33.3%and 58.8%,respectively.Additionally,optimizing the open-pit limit using this method reduced the amount of rock, increased the amount of ore,and lowered blasting costs, thereby enhancing the economic efficiency of the mine. This study provides valuable insights for blasting design and mining decisions, demonstrating the advantages and potential applications of powder factor prediction based on the heterogeneity of rock mass quality.

文摘In hilly regions, the existence of surface cracks in rock mass induces a potential threat to structural stability. Thus, the present research aims to explore the impact of surface cracks on the loadbearing capacity of strip footing placed on the rock mass.By taking into account the various boundary constraints across the surface of crack edges, the study investigates the presence of two categories of surface cracks,namely(1)separated crack,and(2)fine crack. The lower bound limit analysis is employed in conjunction with the finite element method(LBFELA)to conduct the numerical analysis. In order to evaluate rock mass yielding, the power conic programming(PCP)method is utilized to implement the generalized Hoek-Brown(GHB)failure criterion. The stability of the strip footing is analyzed by determining the bearing capacity factor(Nσγ),which is presented in the form of design charts by varying the strength parameters of rock, including the Geological Strength Index(GSI),Hoek-Brown material parameter(mi),Disturbance factor(D),and Normalised Uniaxial Compressive Strength(σci/γB),whereγis the unit weight of rock mass, and B is the width of strip footing. The study also investigates the impact of cracks on strip footings, considering different positions of the crack(LC)and depths of the crack(DC).The results demonstrate that the influence of the fine crack is only noticeable until the LC/B ratio reaches 6.However,for the separated crack, its impact remains significant even when the LC/B ratio exceeds 16.The appearance of fine crack at the edge of the footing results in a decrease in the magnitude Nσγof up to 45%,indicating a substantial reduction in the stability of the footing. The failure patterns are presented and discussed in detail for various cases in this study to examine the effect of surface cracks on the strip footing and to address the extent of the plastic collapse.

文摘We investigate mass ladder operators for the static BTZ-like black hole in Einstein-bumblebee gravity and probe the quasinormal frequencies of the mapped modes using mass ladder operators for a scalar perturbation under Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. We find that the mass ladder operators depend on the Lorentz symmetry breaking parameter, and the imaginary parts of the frequencies shifted by the mass ladder operators increase with the increase in the Lorentz symmetry breaking parameter under the two boundary conditions.Note that, under the Neumann boundary condition, the mapped modes caused by the mass ladder operator D_(0,k_(+))are unstable. Moreover, the mass ladder operators do not change the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound for the scalar modes,as in the case of the usual BTZ black hole. These results could aid us in further understanding the conformal symmetry and Lorentz symmetry breaking in Einstein-bumblebee gravity.

文摘The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway, with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEMWE)emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen production.Despite remarkable advancements in this field, confronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy consumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEMWE systems remains a formidable obstacle. This impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles detachment. To address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis system.Compared to constant voltage electrolysis(hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h^(-1),energy consumption:5.37 kWh Nm-^(3)H_(2)),this strategy(hydrogen production rate:66 m L h^(-1),energy consumption:3.83 kWh Nm-^(3)H_(2))increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy consumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic(PV)system designed for outdoor operation, successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 V.The combined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis(PDE)dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode surface. As such,PDE-enhanced PEMWE represents a synergistic advancement, concurrently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport processes. This promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

文摘Exploring secondary organic aerosol(SOA)processes is crucial for understanding climate and air pollution in megacities. This study introduces a new method using positive matrix factorization(PMF)to investigate the SOA process by integrating the OA and associated ions previously misidentified as inorganic aerosol in high-resolution aerosol mass spectrometry data. The mass spectra and time series of primary OA(POA)and less oxidized oxygenated OA(OOA)identified by this new method resembled those resolved by traditional PMF.However, more oxidized OOA(MO-OOA)identified by traditional PMF can be further subdivided into multiple OA factors, including nitrogen-enriched OA(ON-OA)and sulfur-enriched OA(OS-OA)in summer, and ON-OA,OS-OA,and OOA in winter. Our findings highlight the significant role of photochemical processes in the formation of OS-OA compared to ON-OA.The compositions of reconstructed MO-OOA varied under different Ox(=O_(3)+NO_(2))and relative humidity conditions, emphasizing the limitations of using a constant mass spectrum.Aged biomass burning OA(BBOA)and coal combustion OA(CCOA),previously misattributed as POA,contributed 9.2%(0.43μg m^(−3))and 7.0%(0.33μg m^(−3))to SOA,respectively.Aged BBOA was more prone to forming OS-OA,whereas ON-OA showed higher correlations with aged CCOA,indicating distinct molecular compositions of SOA from different aged POA sources.Compared to aged BBOA,aged CCOA was more subject to conversion during aqueous phase processing. These results suggest that the variations in mass spectra and compositions need to be considered when simulating SOA processes.

文摘BACKGROUND The triglyceride glucose-body mass index(TyG-BMI)is a novel indicator of insulin resistance(IR).Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)is a prevalent disorder characterized by recurrent complete or partial collapse of the pharyngeal airway during sleep;however, the relationship between these two conditions remains unexplored. We hypothesized that a higher TyG-BMI is associated with the occurrence of OSA.AIM To assess the association between TyG-BMI and OSA in adults in the United States.METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys spanning from 2005-2008 to 2015-2018.TyGBMI was calculated as Ln[triglyceride(mg/dL)×fasting blood glucose(mg/dL)/2]×BMI.Restricted cubic splines were used to analyze the risk of TyG-BMI and OSA occurrence. To identify potential nonlinear relationships,we combined Cox proportional hazard regression with smooth curve fitting. We also conducted sensitivity and subgroup analyses to verify the robustness of our findings.RESULTS We included 16794 participants in the final analysis.Multivariate regression analysis showed that participants with a higher TyG-BMI had a higher OSA incidence. After adjusting for all covariates,TyG-BMI was positively correlated with the prevalence of OSA(odds ratio:1.28;95%confidence interval:1.17,1.40;P<0.001);no significant nonlinear relationship was observed.Subgroup analysis showed no strong correlation between TyG-BMI and OSA in patients with diabetes. The correlation between TyG-BMI and OSA was influenced by age, sex, smoking status, marital status, hypertensive stratification, and obesity;these subgroups played a moderating role between TyGBMI and OSA.Even after adjusting for all covariates, there was a positive association between TYG-BMI and OSA prevalence.CONCLUSION A higher TyG-BMI index is linked to higher chances of developing OSA.As TyG-BMI is an indicator of IR,managing IR may help reduce the risk of OSA.

文摘BACKGROUND The association between body mass index(BMI)and bone mineral density(BMD)has shown inconsistent results, varying by sex and skeletal site.Despite normal or elevated bone mass, individuals with type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of hip and vertebral fractures.AIM To assess lumbar spine trabecular volumetric BMD(vBMD)across different BMI categories in individuals with and without diabetes.METHODS This cross-sectional study included 966 men over 50 years old and 1001 postmenopausal women from the Pinggu Metabolic Disease Study. The vBMD of lumbar vertebrae 2 through 4 was measured using quantitative computed tomography.Total adipose tissue, subcutaneous adipose tissue(SAT),visceral adipose tissue(VAT),and lumbar skeletal muscle area were also quantified.RESULTS In men with obesity(P=0.038)and overweight(P=0.032),vBMD was significantly higher in the diabetes group compared to non-diabetic men. After adjusting for age and sex,no significant saturation effect between BMI and BMD was found in participants with diabetes or in women without diabetes. However,a BMI threshold of 22.33 kg/m²indicated a saturation point for vBMD in nondiabetic men.Independent predictors of vBMD in men included age(r=-0.387,P<0.001),BMI(r=0.130,P=0.004),and VAT(r=-0.145,P=0.001).For women, significant predictors were age(r=-0.594,P<0.001),BMI(r=0.157,P=0.004),VAT(r=-0.112,P=0.001),and SAT(r=-0.068,P=0.035).CONCLUSION The relationship between BMI and trabecular vBMD differs in individuals with and without diabetes.Overweight and obese men with diabetes exhibit higher vBMD.

文摘BACKGROUND Ankylosing spondylitis(AS)is recognized as a long-term inflammatory disorder that leads to inflammation in the spine and joints, alongside abnormal bone growth. In previous studies,we reported that mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)derived from individuals with AS demonstrated a remarkable inhibition in the formation of osteoclasts compared to those obtained from healthy donors. The mechanism through which MSCs from AS patients achieve this inhibition remains unclear.AIM To investigate the potential underlying mechanism by which MSCs from individuals with ankylosing spondylitis(AS-MSCs)inhibit osteoclastogenesis.METHODS We analysed fat mass and obesity-associated(FTO)protein levels in AS-MSCs and MSCs from healthy donors and investigated the effects and mechanism by which FTO in MSCs inhibits osteoclastogenesis by coculturing and measuring the levels of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase, nuclear factor of activated T cells 1 and cathepsin K.RESULTS We found that FTO,an enzyme responsible for removing methyl groups from RNA,was more abundantly expressed in MSCs from AS patients than in those from healthy donors.Reducing FTO levels was shown to diminish the capacity of MSCs to inhibit osteoclast development.Further experimental results revealed that FTO affects the stability of the long non-coding RNA activated by DNA damage(NORAD)by altering its N6-methyladenosine methylation status.Deactivating NORAD in MSCs significantly increased osteoclast formation by affecting miR-4284,which could regulate the MSC-mediated inhibition of osteoclastogenesis reported in our previous research.CONCLUSION This study revealed elevated FTO levels in AS-MSCs and found that FTO regulated the ability of AS-MSCs to inhibit osteoclast formation through the long noncoding RNA NORAD/miR-4284 axis.

文摘The effect of Mg/Si mass ratio on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si cast aluminum alloys under sub-rapid solidification conditions was investigated. This study utilized four different Mg/Si ratios:2.83,1.91,1.73,and 1.53.To analyze the evolution of the microstructure, particularly the second phase, various techniques were employed:optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS),and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD).Additionally, thermodynamic calculations were performed using the Thermal-calc software to further understand the microstructural changes. Results show that as the Mg/Si ratio decreases from 2.83 to 1.53,α-Al grains become more uniformly distributed.Meanwhile, the morphology of the Mg_(2)Si phases changes from skeletal to short stick shapes with a decreasing aspect ratio. An as-cast Al-Mg-Si alloy with a Mg/Si ratio of 1.53 exhibits high strength, achieving an ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of 320.6 MPa and a yield strength(YS)of 249.9 MPa.The cast alloy with a Mg/Si ratio of 2.83exhibits the highest elongation, reaching 5.31%.This superior elongation is attributed to the uniform distribution of Mg_(2)Si phases, which possess a long skeletal shape.Conversely, the alloy with a Mg/Si ratio of 1.53 demonstrates the lowest elongation, primarily due to the central concentration of Mg_(2)Si phases, which are characterized by their short stick shapes.
