This study focuses on vocational undergraduate institutions in Hainan Province,exploring the current status,issues,and optimization strategies for integrating ideological and political education into college English c...This study focuses on vocational undergraduate institutions in Hainan Province,exploring the current status,issues,and optimization strategies for integrating ideological and political education into college English courses.Through questionnaires,interviews,and classroom observations,the research identifies problems such as insufficient integration of ideological content,monotonous teaching methods,and low student engagement.To address these issues,this paper proposes a four-in-one teaching strategy encompassing teaching objectives,content,methods,and evaluation mechanisms.The effectiveness of this strategy is validated through teaching practices.The results indicate that the optimized teaching strategy significantly enhances students’English proficiency and ideological literacy,providing practical references for the reform of ideological and political education in college English courses at vocational undergraduate institutions.展开更多

This mixed-methods study presents a needs analysis to investigate the workplace English language needs of medical students in China who are learning and using English as non-native speakers,the circumstances in which ...This mixed-methods study presents a needs analysis to investigate the workplace English language needs of medical students in China who are learning and using English as non-native speakers,the circumstances in which the various language skills are required,and stakeholders’perceived workplace preparedness in the light of language-related instructional provision during medical training.A leading university in China was chosen as the study case.Altogether,294 online questionnaires were collected from undergraduate medical students,graduate medical students and recent graduates working as physicians,and 33 semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with undergraduate medical students,graduate medical students,recent graduates working as physicians,medical teachers,English for Medical Purposes(EMP)teachers,program leaders and English-speaking patients.Results showed that in addition to physicians experiencing pressure to publish scientific articles internationally,participants attached greater importance to physicians’oral English communication ability,especially in undertaking clinical consultations in English,working with medical interpreters or acting as ad hoc interpreters.The participants also reported a lack of relevant EMP courses or trainings available at this university.Given these communicative events that physicians face in China,EMP courses need to include training in these specific areas.展开更多

Objective:This study explores the effectiveness of a three-stage blended teaching model in the Medical Microbiology course for Clinical Medicine students within the context of smart education.Methods:Clinical Medicine...Objective:This study explores the effectiveness of a three-stage blended teaching model in the Medical Microbiology course for Clinical Medicine students within the context of smart education.Methods:Clinical Medicine students from the 2021 and 2022 classes were studied,comparing the traditional and three-stage blended teaching models.Academic performance and survey feedback were analyzed.Results:The research group’s academic performance,including daily,final exam,and average scores,was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).Over 95%of students approved of the new teaching model,noting improvements in competencies.Conclusion:The three-stage blended teaching model effectively boosted student engagement,interaction,academic performance,and overall skills,showing potential for broader application in medical education.展开更多

T...This work aims at discussing the concept of critical and plurilingual English teaching within the context of the Interdisciplinary Higher Education Program recently implemented at the University of Campinas, Brazil. This program aims at widening possibilities for public students to have access to Higher Education. The teaching of English as a foreign language is part of the curriculum and one of the challenges faced was to design a language course that meant to be meaningful to students and able to develop the necessary knowledge and literacies for active citizenship as well. A discursive approach to language was adopted and, this way, Bakhtinian theories, re-contextualized to the educational field, support the claim for the development of critical literacy in the process. Along with the concept of multiliteracies, linked to the notion of speech genres, the idea of a plurilingual, plurivocal, and pluristylistic language teaching is theoretically discussed and briefly illustrated. The results show that such an approach successfully led to meaningful and critical practices in the language classroom in Higher Education.展开更多

文摘Cultivating morality and nurturing talents is an important task of educational work,and the proposal of curriculum ideology and politics has laid a solid foundation for universities to implement the education of cultivating morality and nurturing talents.Ideological and political education in the curriculum,as an important tool for cultivating moral character,utilizes the main channel of classroom teaching to disseminate content related to ideological and political education and promote the development of correct core socialist values and good character in students.Integrating ideological and political elements into English courses requires students to consider multiple factors,explore ideological and political elements,and choose appropriate teaching methods.At present,the integration of ideological and political elements into college English courses is still in the exploratory stage.This article conducts a comprehensive analysis and research on the connotation of ideological and political elements in courses,and the difficulties,causes,and significance of integrating them into English courses.Lastly,practical and feasible teaching strategies are proposed,hoping to provide guidance for frontline teachers and promote students’comprehensive development.

文摘Objective:This study explores the effectiveness of a three-stage blended teaching model in the Medical Microbiology course for Clinical Medicine students within the context of smart education.Methods:Clinical Medicine students from the 2021 and 2022 classes were studied,comparing the traditional and three-stage blended teaching models.Academic performance and survey feedback were analyzed.Results:The research group’s academic performance,including daily,final exam,and average scores,was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).Over 95%of students approved of the new teaching model,noting improvements in competencies.Conclusion:The three-stage blended teaching model effectively boosted student engagement,interaction,academic performance,and overall skills,showing potential for broader application in medical education.
文摘This work aims at discussing the concept of critical and plurilingual English teaching within the context of the Interdisciplinary Higher Education Program recently implemented at the University of Campinas, Brazil. This program aims at widening possibilities for public students to have access to Higher Education. The teaching of English as a foreign language is part of the curriculum and one of the challenges faced was to design a language course that meant to be meaningful to students and able to develop the necessary knowledge and literacies for active citizenship as well. A discursive approach to language was adopted and, this way, Bakhtinian theories, re-contextualized to the educational field, support the claim for the development of critical literacy in the process. Along with the concept of multiliteracies, linked to the notion of speech genres, the idea of a plurilingual, plurivocal, and pluristylistic language teaching is theoretically discussed and briefly illustrated. The results show that such an approach successfully led to meaningful and critical practices in the language classroom in Higher Education.

文摘In this paper, we conduct research on the lexical chunks and the interactive education mode and the corresponding applications on the teaching of English linguistics. The ultimate goal of the teaching is to improve the level of the students, exert students＇ initiative and creativity, in order to achieve this goal, teachers need to according to the teaching object, choose the appropriate teaching methods., diversified teaching method is multivariate, teaching method of the multivariate interactive for teachers to provide a liberal idea, on the teaching method all rivers run into sea, not stick to one method, in order to further play the advantages of various teaching methods, optimizing classroom teaching, improve teaching efficiency and ensure the quality of teaching. Each teaching method has its advantages and disadvantages, comprehensive methods while the teachers can foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses, fully mobilize students＇ enthusiasm, exert students＇ initiative and creativity, and improve the level of students. Under this background, we integrate the lexical chunks and the interactive education mode to construct the novel education paradigm that is innovative.
