Artificial Intelligence-Powered Legal Document Processing for Medical Negligence Cases: A Critical Review

This critical review looks at the assessment of the application of artificial intelligence in handling legal documents with specific reference to medical negligence cases with a view of identifying its transformative ... This critical review looks at the assessment of the application of artificial intelligence in handling legal documents with specific reference to medical negligence cases with a view of identifying its transformative potentialities, issues and ethical concerns. The review consolidates findings that show the impact of AI in improving the efficiency, accuracy and justice delivery in the legal profession. The studies show increased efficiency in speed of document review and enhancement of the accuracy of the reviewed documents, with time efficiency estimates of 60% reduction of time. However, the review also outlines some of the problems that continue to characterize AI, such as data quality problems, biased algorithms and the problem of the opaque decision-making system. This paper assesses ethical issues related to patient autonomy, justice and non-malignant suffering, with particular focus on patient privacy and fair process, and on potential unfairness to patients. This paper’s review of AI innovations finds that regulations lag behind AI developments, leading to unsettled issues regarding legal responsibility for AI and user control over AI-generated results and findings in legal proceedings. Some of the future avenues that are presented in the study are the future of XAI for legal purposes, utilizing federated learning for resolving privacy issues, and the need to foster adaptive regulation. Finally, the review advocates for Legal Subject Matter Experts to collaborate with legal informatics experts, ethicists, and policy makers to develop the best solutions to implement AI in medical negligence claims. It reasons that there is great potential for AI to have a deep impact on the practice of law but when done, it must do so in a way that respects justice and on the Rights of Individuals. 展开更多

An Adaptive Cooperated Shuffled Frog-Leaping Algorithm for Parallel Batch Processing Machines Scheduling in Fabric Dyeing Processes

Fabric dyeing is a critical production process in the clothing industry and heavily relies on batch processing machines(BPM).In this study,the parallel BPM scheduling problem with machine eligibility in fabric dyeing is considered,and an adaptive cooperated shuffled frog-leaping algorithm(ACSFLA)is proposed to minimize makespan and total tardiness simultaneously.ACSFLA determines the search times for each memeplex based on its quality,with more searches in high-quality memeplexes.An adaptive cooperated and diversified search mechanism is applied,dynamically adjusting search strategies for each memeplex based on their dominance relationships and quality.During the cooperated search,ACSFLA uses a segmented and dynamic targeted search approach,while in non-cooperated scenarios,the search focuses on local search around superior solutions to improve efficiency.Furthermore,ACSFLA employs adaptive population division and partial population shuffling strategies.Through these strategies,memeplexes with low evolutionary potential are selected for reconstruction in the next generation,while thosewithhighevolutionarypotential are retained to continue their evolution.Toevaluate the performance of ACSFLA,comparative experiments were conducted using ACSFLA,SFLA,ASFLA,MOABC,and NSGA-CC in 90 instances.The computational results reveal that ACSFLA outperforms the other algorithms in 78 of the 90 test cases,highlighting its advantages in solving the parallel BPM scheduling problem with machine eligibility. 展开更多

Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Streaming Data Processing System in IoT Architecture

With the widespread application of Internet of Things(IoT)technology,the processing of massive realtime streaming data poses significant challenges to the computational and data-processing capabilities of systems.Although distributed streaming data processing frameworks such asApache Flink andApache Spark Streaming provide solutions,meeting stringent response time requirements while ensuring high throughput and resource utilization remains an urgent problem.To address this,the study proposes a formal modeling approach based on Performance Evaluation Process Algebra(PEPA),which abstracts the core components and interactions of cloud-based distributed streaming data processing systems.Additionally,a generic service flow generation algorithmis introduced,enabling the automatic extraction of service flows fromthe PEPAmodel and the computation of key performance metrics,including response time,throughput,and resource utilization.The novelty of this work lies in the integration of PEPA-based formal modeling with the service flow generation algorithm,bridging the gap between formal modeling and practical performance evaluation for IoT systems.Simulation experiments demonstrate that optimizing the execution efficiency of components can significantly improve system performance.For instance,increasing the task execution rate from 10 to 100 improves system performance by 9.53%,while further increasing it to 200 results in a 21.58%improvement.However,diminishing returns are observed when the execution rate reaches 500,with only a 0.42%gain.Similarly,increasing the number of TaskManagers from 10 to 20 improves response time by 18.49%,but the improvement slows to 6.06% when increasing from 20 to 50,highlighting the importance of co-optimizing component efficiency and resource management to achieve substantial performance gains.This study provides a systematic framework for analyzing and optimizing the performance of IoT systems for large-scale real-time streaming data processing.The proposed approach not only identifies performance bottlenecks but also offers insights into improving system efficiency under different configurations and workloads. 展开更多

This thesis addresses the issues existing in traditional laser tracking displacement measurement technology in the field of ultraprecision metrology by designing a differential signal processing circuit for high-precision laser interferometric displacement measurement.A stable power supply module is designed to provide low-noise voltage to the entire circuit.An analog circuit system is constructed,including key circuits such as photoelectric sensors,I-V amplification,zero adjustment,fully differential amplification,and amplitude modulation filtering.To acquire and process signals,the PMAC Acc24E3 data acquisition card is selected,which realizes phase demodulation through reversible square wave counting,inverts displacement information,and a visual interface for the host computer is designed.Experimental verification shows that the designed system achieves micrometer-level measurement accuracy within a range of 0-10mm,with a maximum measurement error of less than 1.2μm,a maximum measurement speed of 6m/s,and a resolution better than 0.158μm. 展开更多

Thin walls of an AZ91 magnesium alloy with fine equiaxed grains were fabricated via cold arc-based wire arc additive manufacturing(CA-WAAM),and the droplet transfer behaviours,microstructures,and mechanical properties were investigated.The results showed that the cold arc process reduced splashing at the moment of liquid bridge breakage and effectively shortened the droplet transfer period.The microstructures of the deposited samples exhibited layered characteristics with alternating distributions of coarse and fine grains.During layer-by-layer deposition,the β-phase precipitated and grew preferentially along grain boundaries,while the fineη-Al_(8)Mn_(5)phase was dispersed in the α-Mg matrix.The mechanical properties of the CA-WAAM deposited sample showed isotropic characteristics.The ultimate tensile strength and elongation in the building direction(BD)were 282.7 MPa and 14.2%,respectively.The microhardness values of the deposited parts were relatively uniform,with an average value of HV 69.6. 展开更多

The effects of forward extrusion as well as extrusion combined with reversible torsion(KoBo extrusion),followed by additional deformation via the MaxStrain module of the Gleeble thermomechanical simulator,on the microstructure,mechanical properties,and electrical conductivity of a Cu−0.7Mg(wt.%)alloy,were investigated.The simulation results highlighted the critical influence of processing history on determining the equivalent strain distribution.The sample subjected to forward extrusion at 400℃and subsequent MaxStrain processing(FM sample),possessed 76%lower grain size compared to the sample processed solely with MaxStrain(AM sample).Likewise,the KoBo-extruded and MaxStrain-processed sample(KM sample)exhibited 66%smaller grain size compared to the AM sample.Tensile test results revealed that the AM,FM,and KM samples,respectively,possessed 251%,288%,and 360%higher yield strength,and 95%,121%,and 169%higher tensile strength compared to the initial annealed alloy,as a result of grain refinement as well as deformation strengthening.Finally,the electrical conductivity measurements revealed that AM,FM,and KM samples,respectively,possessed electrical conductivity values of 37.9,35.6,and 32.0 MS/m,which,by considering their mechanical properties,makes them eligible to be categorized as high-strength and high-conductivity copper alloys. 展开更多

The uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of rocks is a vital geomechanical parameter widely used for rock mass classification,stability analysis,and engineering design in rock engineering.Various UCS testing methods and apparatuses have been proposed over the past few decades.The objective of the present study is to summarize the status and development in theories,test apparatuses,data processing of the existing testing methods for UCS measurement.It starts with elaborating the theories of these test methods.Then the test apparatus and development trends for UCS measurement are summarized,followed by a discussion on rock specimens for test apparatus,and data processing methods.Next,the method selection for UCS measurement is recommended.It reveals that the rock failure mechanism in the UCS testing methods can be divided into compression-shear,compression-tension,composite failure mode,and no obvious failure mode.The trends of these apparatuses are towards automation,digitization,precision,and multi-modal test.Two size correction methods are commonly used.One is to develop empirical correlation between the measured indices and the specimen size.The other is to use a standard specimen to calculate the size correction factor.Three to five input parameters are commonly utilized in soft computation models to predict the UCS of rocks.The selection of the test methods for the UCS measurement can be carried out according to the testing scenario and the specimen size.The engineers can gain a comprehensive understanding of the UCS testing methods and its potential developments in various rock engineering endeavors. 展开更多

由于珍贵木材日益稀缺以及过度开发导致的严重环境问题,有必要通过对普通木材进行染色来模仿珍贵木材的外观。在本研究中采用计算机辅助染色技术,实现对普通木材的高精度染色,从而创造出外观类似珍贵木材的替代品,减少人们对它们的依赖... 由于珍贵木材日益稀缺以及过度开发导致的严重环境问题,有必要通过对普通木材进行染色来模仿珍贵木材的外观。在本研究中采用计算机辅助染色技术,实现对普通木材的高精度染色,从而创造出外观类似珍贵木材的替代品,减少人们对它们的依赖。首先,基于基因表达编程(gene expression programming, GEP)的概念,提出了一种多表达式编程(multi-expression programming, MEP)算法来预测染料配比,考虑到多种染料之间的复杂相互作用,采用多基因表达,MEP算法能够处理这些复杂的多种染料之间的相互作用,从而得到更直观的函数表达式。为了提高MEP的函数挖掘准确性,自适应调整突变和重组算子的概率,并使用并行编程来增强函数挖掘效率。与基因表达编程的结果相比,MEP深入挖掘了函数关系,并在颜色预测中获得了0.113的相对偏差结果。 展开更多

近年发现先天免疫同样具备免疫记忆特征,即训练免疫(trained immunity,TI)。已有研究表明,高脂膳食诱导先天性免疫细胞TI,致使其对继发性代谢紊乱的免疫应答显著增强,是诱发胰岛素抵抗(insulin resistance,IR)及相关代谢性疾病的重要机... 近年发现先天免疫同样具备免疫记忆特征,即训练免疫(trained immunity,TI)。已有研究表明,高脂膳食诱导先天性免疫细胞TI,致使其对继发性代谢紊乱的免疫应答显著增强,是诱发胰岛素抵抗(insulin resistance,IR)及相关代谢性疾病的重要机制。通过诱导先天性免疫细胞TI耐受来打破IR与TI间的恶性循环,抑制多种IR继发性代谢紊乱引起的过度炎症反应,是早期防治相关代谢性疾病的新策略。众所周知,运动干预发挥抗炎效应促进机体代谢稳态,但目前运动抗炎效应的潜在机制尚未阐明。最近发现,TI耐受过程主要由代谢重编程驱动,而运动已被证明能调节多种细胞的代谢重编程。三羧酸循环中间产物衣康酸(itaconate)是最新发现的平衡先天性免疫细胞TI及其耐受的中心调控点,且运动可调节免疫反应基因1(IRG1)/itaconate信号。因此,深入探讨运动干预IR中TI及TI耐受、代谢重编程和IRG1/itaconate信号间的相互关系,总结运动改善IR的TI耐受机制,可为运动在IR及相关代谢性疾病中的防治效应提供理论支持,为针对运动不耐受者的模拟药物开发提供新思路。 展开更多

骨质疏松症(osteoporosis,OP)是一种常见的代谢性骨疾病,随着人口老龄化程度的不断加深,OP已经成为一个全球性的公共卫生问题,且迄今为止,骨代谢紊乱的详细分子机制仍有待阐明。代谢紊乱已被发现能够导致多种疾病的发生发展,而中药单体... 骨质疏松症(osteoporosis,OP)是一种常见的代谢性骨疾病,随着人口老龄化程度的不断加深,OP已经成为一个全球性的公共卫生问题,且迄今为止,骨代谢紊乱的详细分子机制仍有待阐明。代谢紊乱已被发现能够导致多种疾病的发生发展,而中药单体被广泛应用于调节代谢重编程。最近的研究表明,部分中药单体可以干预代谢重编程,从而调控成骨细胞和破骨细胞主导的骨重塑平衡。笔者综述了代谢重编程与OP的关系,包括糖代谢重编程、脂质代谢重编程和氨基酸代谢重编程,并总结了部分中药单体在调控OP发生发展中的最新研究进展。这些研究旨在确定代谢重编程在预防和治疗OP中的潜在价值,并为临床中医药治疗OP提供理论依据。 展开更多
