This study adds to the current literature on teacher technology integration with an investigation into five beginning teachers’technology use in the language classroom in their first two career-entry years.The longit...This study adds to the current literature on teacher technology integration with an investigation into five beginning teachers’technology use in the language classroom in their first two career-entry years.The longitudinal interview study reveals that these teachers went through a developmental trajectory of technology use towards using it for more diversified instructional purposes and with a greater orientation towards student learning over the years.The study also finds that the teachers’developing understanding of technology use intertwined with their growing teaching competency and identity.It further finds that school culture not only had a direct influence on their technology use but also moderated the influence of teaching competency and identity on the nature of this technology use.This study concludes with suggestions for promoting research on the support needed for beginning teachers and the school culture in technology use.展开更多
An 8×10 GHz receiver optical sub-assembly （ROSA） consisting of an 8-channel arrayed waveguide grating （AWG） and an 8-channel PIN photodetector （PD） array is designed and fabricated based on silica hybrid in...An 8×10 GHz receiver optical sub-assembly （ROSA） consisting of an 8-channel arrayed waveguide grating （AWG） and an 8-channel PIN photodetector （PD） array is designed and fabricated based on silica hybrid integration technology. Multimode output waveguides in the silica AWG with 2% refractive index difference are used to obtain fiat-top spectra. The output waveguide facet is polished to 45° bevel to change the light propagation direction into the mesa-type PIN PD, which simplifies the packaging process. The experimentM results show that the single channel I dB bandwidth of AWG ranges from 2.12nm to 3.06nm, the ROSA responsivity ranges from 0.097 A/W to 0.158A/W, and the 3dB bandwidth is up to 11 GHz. It is promising to be applied in the eight-lane WDM transmission system in data center interconnection.展开更多

Ur-baniza...Urbanization strategic environmental assessment (SEA) is an effective instrument to enhance the harmo-nious development of urban complex system, integrating of environment and development in decision-making. Ur-banization strategic environmental assessment integration technology system (SEA-ITS) is composed of "3S" (RS, GIS and GPS), environmental expert system and environmental model system, coupling with appropriate SEA working process closely. In this paper, the structure and components of SEA-ITS are analyzed based on Chinese characteristics, meanwhile methods to fulfill the following system functions are discussed: urbanization SEA in-quiring, analysis, discrimination, assessment, prediction, decision-making and output. Moreover, methods and tech-nologies employed in different urbanization SEA hierarchies are summarized. As a case study, urbanization SEA-ITS is applied in Changchun City to solving complex real problems. Methods such as system dynamics and grey cluster are adopted to achieve the environmental impact assessment on the eco-industrial system planning. It is revealed that the system designed is capable of reflecting the dynamic behavior of eco-industrial system under different sce-narios, meanwhile accomplishing strategy optimization and supplying scientific reference. The 4th strategy, namely concerning on economy increase and its interaction with science, technology and environment progress, would have the best efficiency. Further, more attention should be paid to the secondary development of integration techniques and function modification system of urbanization SEA-ITS.展开更多

Explicit knowledge is from a person＇s ＂espoused theory＂ which is what a person believes and claims to follow. Tacit knowledge is from a person＇s ＂theory-in-use＂ which lies behind a person＇s action or behavior. The knowledge of teaching demonstrated in the classroom can be referred to as tacit knowledge or theory-in-use which is often the theory behind the practice of experienced teachers. Freema Elbaz （1983） points out that the ＂experience＂ is referred to as ＂practical knowledge＂, which ＂provides the basis for a conceptualization which sees the teacher as possessing valuable resources＂ （6） and allows teachers to explicitly indicate and tacitly demonstrate their experience in teaching. The purpose of the study is to investigate how experienced college instructors apply their good teaching qualities to teaching social studies. The participants are three experienced college instructors teaching social studies. A concept map and a final reflection are used to elicit experienced instructors＇ personal epistemology in teaching social studies and their perception of technology use in the classroom. Each participant was asked to generate nine good teaching qualities and draw their concept map based on the nine qualities. Their concept maps reflected their theory-in-use and showed the relationship among their teaching qualities by displaying them together in a graphic form and how each teaching quality is connected to another. Participants＇ technology use was also explored to get their perception of the role of technology and their actual use of it in teaching. Then they were asked to validate their concept map data and reflect on their classroom teaching and use of technology. The findings show the three instructors taught under different schema and decided what their means and ends should be and how technology can help facilitate teaching and learning. However, most of them seemed to treat the content （e.g., democracy education） as their ends and thus used pedagogy （e.g., technology） as the means to reach the ends. This study explores the integration of Generative AI(GenAI)tools and cooperative learning strategies to enhance writing proficiency among English as a Foreign Language(EFL)students in English-medium instruction(EMI)un...This study explores the integration of Generative AI(GenAI)tools and cooperative learning strategies to enhance writing proficiency among English as a Foreign Language(EFL)students in English-medium instruction(EMI)universities in China.Employing a quasi-experimental design,the study compared writing performance between an experimental group utilizing AI tools and a control group relying solely on traditional feedback methods.Quantitative findings revealed a significant improvement in writing scores for the experimental group(t=3.45,p<.01).A one-way ANOVA further demonstrated that higher engagement levels were positively associated with superior writing performance(F=4.32,p<.05),with post-hoc analyses highlighting peer collaboration and AI-driven personalized feedback as critical factors.Qualitative insights reinforced these findings,with students valuing the immediacy and specificity of AI feedback while still preferring the personalized nature of teacher input.However,the weak correlation between overall engagement levels and writing quality(r=.084)suggests that specific engagement dimensions,such as peer interaction and collaborative activities,warrant closer examination.The study contributes to the existing literature by bridging early constructivist learning theories with AI-driven pedagogical innovations,proposing a revised framework for understanding learning in technology-enhanced environments.Implications for educators include adopting blended approaches that leverage AI tools alongside traditional methods to foster active learning and improve writing outcomes in EFL contexts.展开更多

文摘This study explores the integration of Generative AI(GenAI)tools and cooperative learning strategies to enhance writing proficiency among English as a Foreign Language(EFL)students in English-medium instruction(EMI)universities in China.Employing a quasi-experimental design,the study compared writing performance between an experimental group utilizing AI tools and a control group relying solely on traditional feedback methods.Quantitative findings revealed a significant improvement in writing scores for the experimental group(t=3.45,p<.01).A one-way ANOVA further demonstrated that higher engagement levels were positively associated with superior writing performance(F=4.32,p<.05),with post-hoc analyses highlighting peer collaboration and AI-driven personalized feedback as critical factors.Qualitative insights reinforced these findings,with students valuing the immediacy and specificity of AI feedback while still preferring the personalized nature of teacher input.However,the weak correlation between overall engagement levels and writing quality(r=.084)suggests that specific engagement dimensions,such as peer interaction and collaborative activities,warrant closer examination.The study contributes to the existing literature by bridging early constructivist learning theories with AI-driven pedagogical innovations,proposing a revised framework for understanding learning in technology-enhanced environments.Implications for educators include adopting blended approaches that leverage AI tools alongside traditional methods to foster active learning and improve writing outcomes in EFL contexts.
文摘The patterns and trends in formal higher education are changing.As world economy is moving towards a knowledge based economy,the needs and requirements of formal higher education are also changing.Countries are currently reevaluating their options of formalizing their growing education sector by drafting new education policy that aims to meet the demands of this futuristic knowledge based and technology driven economy with involvement of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning(AIML).Factors addressing core competence of employability,holistic development and attainment of skills are the new mantras of evolving modern day’s economy.To be in sync with such demand,requirement,and challenges,the Indian government took a significant step in drafting a New Education Policy popularly known as‘NEP 2020’.This paper makes an attempt to analyze the significant characteristics and dimensions of this NEP 2020 by undertaking a survey among stakeholders mostly students to arrive at certain key findings such as inducing centric,employable,skillful,and holistic development of students attaining such higher education.It also points out some of the implementation issues which require lead time to be adjusted with the system.
