A non-linear partial-differential equation governing the transverse motion is derived from the dynamical, constitutive equations and geometrical relations. By referring to the quasi-static stretch assumption, the partial-differential non-linearity is reduced to an integro-partial-differential one. The method of multiple scales is directly applied to the governing equations with the two types of non-linearity, respectively. The amplitude of near- and exact-resonant steady state is analyzed by use of the solvability condition of eliminating secular terms. Numerical results are presented to show the contributions of foundation vibration amplitude, viscoelastic damping, and nonlinearity to the response amplitude for the first and the second mode.展开更多

文摘A small quasi-zero stiffness(QZS)vibration isolator is designed to be mounted on the roof of an agricultural vehicle for the working environment and vibration frequency of the inertial navigation system.By using the principle that the Euler beam has a negative stiffness in the critical state, the dynamic stiffness of the loaded QZS vibration isolator in the balance position tends to be close to zero by connecting a vertical spring in parallel.Firstly, the stiffness of the QZS vibration isolation system at the balance position is analyzed statically, and the material parameters and properties of the Euler beam are determined. Then, the dynamic equations are established, and the harmonic equilibrium method is used to solve the dynamic response under sinusoidal excitation to obtain the force transmissibility of the QZS vibration isolation system, and to make a comparison with that of the linear isolation system. Finally, the modal simulation, harmonic response simulation and random vibration simulation of the QZS vibration isolator are carried out through the finite element analysis, and the results show that the QZS vibration isolator has a lower initial isolation frequency and a larger isolation range, and the peak vibration isolation can reach about 11.58 dB.

文摘This paper investigates the active traveling wave vibration control of an elastic supported rotating porous aluminium conical shell(CS)under impact loading.Piezoelectric smart materials in the form of micro fiber composites(MFCs)are used as actuators and sensors. To this end,a metal pore truncated CS with MFCs attached to its surface is considered.Adding artificial virtual springs at two edges of the truncated CS achieves various elastic supported boundaries by changing the spring stiffness.Based on the first-order shear deformation theory(FSDT),minimum energy principle, and artificial virtual spring technology, the theoretical formulations considering the electromechanical coupling are derived. The comparison of the natural frequency of the present results with the natural frequencies reported in previous literature evaluates the accuracy of the present approach. To study the vibration control, the integral quadrature method in conjunction with the differential quadrature approximation in the length direction is used to discretize the partial differential dynamical system to form a set of ordinary differential equations. With the aid of the velocity negative feedback method, both the time history and the input control voltage on the actuator are demonstrated to present the effects of velocity feedback gain, pore distribution type,semi-vertex angle, impact loading, and rotational angular velocity on the traveling wave vibration control.

文摘In recent years,magneto-electro-elastic(MEE)cylindrical shells with step-wise thicknesses have shown significant potential in the field of vibration energy harvesting. To aid the design of such energy harvesting devices,an accurate free vibration analysis of embedded MEE cylindrical shells with step-wise thicknesses is performed within the framework of symplectic mechanics.By using the Legendre transformation,a new known vector is defined to transform the higher-order partial differential governing equations into a set of lower-order ordinary differential equations. Therefore, the original vibration analysis is regarded as an eigen problem in the symplectic space, and analytical solutions can be represented by the symplectic series. In numerical examples, the new analytical solutions are compared with the existing results, and good agreement is observed.Furthermore, the effects of critical design parameters on free vibration characteristics are thoroughly investigated. All numerical results can serve as benchmarks for the development of other approximate or numerical methods.
文摘This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams, which are all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP)materials. The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force are calculated.Additionally,a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. The curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are obtained.Continuity conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure.Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. The accuracy of the mathematical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing literature and commercial software ANSYS,demonstrating excellent agreement.Furthermore,a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

文摘This paper presents, for the first time,an effective numerical approach based on the isogeometric analysis(IGA)and the six-variable quasi-three dimensional(3D)higher-order shear deformation theory(HSDT)to study the free vibration characteristics of functionally-graded(FG)graphene origami(GOri)-enabled auxetic metamaterial(GOEAM)plates submerged in a fluid medium. The plate theory incorporates the thickness stretching and the effects of transverse shear deformation without using any shear correction factors. The velocity potential function and Bernoulli's equation are used to derive the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the plate surface. Both horizontally and vertically immersed plate configurations are considered here in the form of inertia effects. The plates are composed of multilayer GOEAMs,with the GOri content varying through the plate's thickness in a layer-wise manner. This design results in graded auxetic growth. The material properties are evaluated by mixing rules and a genetic programming(GP)-assisted micromechanical model. The governing equations of motion for the FG-GOEAM plates immersed in a fluid medium are derived by Hamilton's principle. After validating the convergence and accuracy of the present model,a comprehensive parametric study is carried out to examine the effects of the GOri content,GOri distribution pattern,GOri folding degree, fluid level, immersed depth, and geometric parameter on the natural frequencies of the FG-GOEAM plates. The results show that the natural frequencies for the four GOri distribution patterns increase with the increase in the layer number when the lay number is fewer than 10,and then stabilize after the layer number reaches 10.Besides,in general, the natural frequency of the FG-GOEAM plate in a vacuum or fluid increases when the GOri content increases, while decreases when the GOri folding degree increases. Some additional findings related to the numerical results are presented in the conclusions. It is believed that the present results are useful for the precise design and optimization of FG-GOEAM plates immersed in a fluid medium.

文摘The non-linear forced vibration of axially moving viscoelastic beams excited by the vibration of the supporting foundation is investigated. Numerical results are presented to show the contributions of foundation vibration amplitude, viscoelastic damping, and nonlinearity to the response amplitude for the first and the second mode.

文摘The fatigue damage caused by flow-induced vibration(FIV)is one of the major concerns for multiple cylindrical structures in many engineering applications. The FIV suppression is of great importance for the security of many cylindrical structures. Many active and passive control methods have been employed for the vibration suppression of an isolated cylinder undergoing vortex-induced vibrations(VIV).The FIV suppression methods are mainly extended to the multiple cylinders from the vibration control of the isolated cylinder.Due to the mutual interference between the multiple cylinders, the FIV mechanism is more complex than the VIV mechanism, which makes a great challenge for the FIV suppression. Some efforts have been devoted to vibration suppression of multiple cylinder systems undergoing FIV over the past two decades. The control methods, such as helical strakes, splitter plates, control rods and flexible sheets, are not always effective, depending on many influence factors, such as the spacing ratio, the arrangement geometrical shape, the flow velocity and the parameters of the vibration control devices. The FIV response, hydrodynamic features and wake patterns of the multiple cylinders equipped with vibration control devices are reviewed and summarized. The FIV suppression efficiency of the vibration control methods are analyzed and compared considering different influence factors.Further research on the FIV suppression of multiple cylinders is suggested to provide insight for the development of FIV control methods and promote engineering applications of FIV control methods.

文摘With its complex nonlinear dynamic behavior, the tristable system has shown excellent performance in areas such as energy harvesting and vibration suppression, and has attracted a lot of attention. In this paper,an asymmetric tristable design is proposed to improve the vibration suppression efficiency of nonlinear energy sinks(NESs)for the first time. The proposed asymmetric tristable NES(ATNES)is composed of a pair of oblique springs and a vertical spring. Then, the three stable states, symmetric and asymmetric, can be achieved by the adjustment of the distance and stiffness asymmetry of the oblique springs. The governing equations of a linear oscillator(LO)coupled with the ATNES are derived. The approximate analytical solution to the coupled system is obtained by the harmonic balance method(HBM)and verified numerically. The vibration suppression efficiency of three types of ATNES is compared. The results show that the asymmetric design can improve the efficiency of vibration reduction through comparing the chaotic motion of the NES oscillator between asymmetric steady states. In addition, compared with the symmetrical tristable NES(TNES),the ATNES can effectively control smaller structural vibrations. In other words, the ATNES can effectively solve the threshold problem of TNES failure to weak excitation. Therefore, this paper reveals the vibration reduction mechanism of the ATNES,and provides a pathway to expand the effective excitation amplitude range of the NES.

文摘Locally resonant metamaterials have low-frequency band gaps and the capability of converging vibratory energy in the band gaps at resonant cells. It has been demonstrated by several researchers that the dissipatioin of vibratory energy within the band gap can be improved by using viscoelastic materials. This paper designs an integrated viscoelastic metamaterial for energy harvesting and vibration isolation. The viscoelastic metamaterial is achieved by a viscoelastic beam periodically arrayed with spatial ball-pendulum nonlinear energy harvesters. The nonlinear resonator with an energy harvesting function is achieved by placing a free-rolling magnetic ball in a spherical cavity with an additional induction coil. The dynamic equations of viscoelastic metamaterials under transverse excitation are established, and the energy harvesting and vibration isolation characteristics within the dispersion relation of viscoelastic metamaterials are analyzed. The results show that the vibrations of the main body of the viscoelastic metamaterial beam are significantly suppressed in the frequency range of the local resonance band gap.At the same time, the elastic waves are limited in the nonlinear resonator with an energy harvesting function, which improves the energy output. Finally,an experimental platform of viscoelastic metamaterial vibration is established for validation purposes.

文摘Vibration quality is a vital indicator for assessing the progress of modern equipment. The dynamic vibration absorber(DVA)based on the acoustic black hole(ABH)feature is a new passive control method that manipulates waves. It offers efficient energy focalization and broad-spectrum vibration suppression, making it highly promising for applications in large equipment such as aircraft, trains, and ships.Despite previous advancements in ABH-DVA development, certain challenges remain, particularly in ensuring effective coupling with host structures during control. To address these issues, this study proposes a partitioned ABH-featured dynamic vibration absorber(PABH-DVA)with partitions in the radial direction of the disc.By employing a plate as the host structure, simulations and experiments were conducted, demonstrating that the PABH-DVA outperforms the original symmetric ABH-DVA in terms of damping performance. The study also calculated and compared the coupling coefficients of the two ABH-DVAs to uncover the mechanism behind the enhanced damping.Simulation results revealed that the PABH-DVA exhibits more coupled modes, occasionally with lower coupling coefficients than the symmetric ABH-DVA.The influence of frequency ratio and modal mass was further analyzed to explain the reasons behind the PABH-DVA's superior damping performance.Additionally, the study discussed the impact of the number of slits and their orientation. This research further explains the coupling mechanism between the ABH-DVA and the controlled structure, and provides new ideas for the further application of ABH in engineering.
