The pandemic highlighted significant gaps in the public health infrastructure impacted by shortages of public health workers, an undertrained workforce, and years of disinvestment. These gaps required innovative probl...The pandemic highlighted significant gaps in the public health infrastructure impacted by shortages of public health workers, an undertrained workforce, and years of disinvestment. These gaps required innovative problem-solving by public health agencies (PHAs), including local health departments (LHDs), to respond to rapidly changing community conditions during and after the pandemic. Many schools and programs of public health (SPPH) worked with PHAs to mobilize public health (PH) students through practice-based teaching (PBT). Current research indicates PBT benefits all stakeholders—PHAs, students, faculty, SPPH, and ultimately the community served. However, more research is needed on the utility of PBT in addressing a community’s systemic public health issues, the extent to which the academic-community collaboration enhances a PHA’s capacity, and the impact of the pedagogy on preparing the workforce for an evolving PH landscape. This paper examines the process of a semester-long PBT course, guided by the PBT STEPS framework, which includes five steps from collaboration to implementation to evaluation of a PBT course. The collaborating PHA and its student group addressed community trauma and resilience issues during the semester. Additionally, it examines the longer-term impacts after the semester for the PHA, community, and the workforce by 1) conducting a formative evaluation to understand needs and gaps in the community;2) redesigning an intervention that merged the results of the formative evaluation with the intervention developed during the semester;and 3) securing funding and resources for intervention sustainability. Through the documentation of a post-course partnership between an LHD and faculty at a large school of public health, this case study illustrates the potential for PBT to lay the foundation for ongoing research that supports more impactful interventions for PHAs while bolstering the workforce abilities of students as future practitioners.展开更多

Taking as its point of departure the problems which English-majored students face when confronted directly with the course in literature at university,this study was conducted mainly through an analysis of student-and...Taking as its point of departure the problems which English-majored students face when confronted directly with the course in literature at university,this study was conducted mainly through an analysis of student-and-teacher responses to questionnaires together with document analysis and reviews on the author’s experience in teaching and managing literary courses at his university.The sample includes 10 teachers in charge of the courses and 150 students attending these courses from five universities.The findings indicate that the teaching and learning of literature in the English language curriculum at these universities is facing certain problems,among which are:limited experience of mother tongue literature;limited experience of literary language;limited experience of English or American literature;and limited experience or knowledge of the world,life,people.From the implications identified,the findings of this paper are believed to yield further insights into the improvement of literature teaching and learning at university in Vietnamese contexts.展开更多

文摘With the advancement of new engineering construction,it is urgent to explore the teaching reform of professional courses in the cultivation of landscape architecture professionals in combination with industry needs.In order to solve the problems existing in the current Landscape Engineering course,such as traditional teaching methods,insufficient student interest,lack of practical links,and the disconnection between teaching content and industry demand.This study discusses the teaching reform of the Landscape Engineering course based on the CDIO(Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate)concept,aiming at solving the problems mentioned.Through the integration of CDIO mode,the core competencies that students should have are defined,including environmental landscape design and planning,innovative thinking,project management,and so on.The research emphasizes project-driven learning,interdisciplinary knowledge integration,and practical skill training,and puts forward strategies such as teacher training and professional development support to ensure the implementation of the reform.The purpose of the reform was to improve students’professional ability and employment competitiveness,promote the improvement of education quality and the sustainable development of the industry,and exert a positive impact on landscape engineering education and industry progress.

文摘This article discusses the specific path of integrating ideological and political education into Medical English courses and the innovative strategy of teaching theories,aiming to improve students’language ability and professional moral literacy.Confronted with the current challenges in education,the article proposes strategies including the ideological-political transformation of textbook content,the innovative design of teaching methods,the comprehensive expansion of extracurricular activities,and the diversified improvement of evaluation systems.In addition,the application of blended teaching,interdisciplinary integration,project-based learning,and technology-assisted teaching are elaborated in detail to realize the deep integration of knowledge transmission and value shaping,and to promote the overall and balanced development of students.

文摘“Curriculum ideology”is a new teaching concept that combines professional courses with ideological and political courses.At present,the teaching reform of ideological and political education has been launched in colleges and universities across the country.It is a major innovation in the field of education in the new era.With the continuous improvement of China’s opening to the outside world,there is also a strong demand for applied foreign language talents.As a course with elements of cross-cultural knowledge and foreign cultural system,college English translation must adapt to the macro requirements of the ideological and political concepts of college English courses as well as reform its teaching contents and methods.On this basis,this article analyzes the status quo of college English translation under the background of“curriculum ideology”and proposes ways to reform the teaching of college English translation,in order to break the limitations of traditional college English teaching,improve students’learning efficiency,and further deepen the reform of translation teaching,and cultivate modern applied cross-cultural communication talents with high professional skills and political literacy.

文摘Since the socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered this new era,the“curriculum ideology and politics”concept has become one of the innovative achievements in the reformation of ideological and political education courses in colleges as well as universities.Based on the emphasis of“curriculum ideology and politics”among graduate students and the influence of the“learning to strengthen the country”concept,this article analyzes universities in regard to the curriculum settings,faculties,and their graduate students.It also explores the“curriculum ideology and politics”concept in consideration of the ontology of teaching,school education,social influence,etc.,and propose practical and extendable countermeasures.

文摘The development history of education is actually a history of the change of media technology.From the perspective of historical development,different periods of media technology have different forms of education.As the two core elements of education,curriculum and teaching are also deeply influenced by the development of media technology.With the continuous emergence of new media,especially in the context of artificial intelligence,the curriculum has experienced the change from attaching importance to subject knowledge to the cultivation of students’innovation ability and core literacy;from static,paper-based,single to dynamic,online and network-based curriculum form;from fixed,unified,limited to personalized,unlimited and open curriculum change is tolerated.Teaching has also experienced two major changes:the optimization of teaching forms and the adjustment of teaching subject role.In order to actively cater to the development of the future science and technology society,the future curriculum and teaching should focus on sustainable development education;focus on the cultivation of key abilities in the 21st century;focus on improving the“three scientific and technological literacy”education;and strengthen the humanistic care of curriculum and teaching.
文摘Taking as its point of departure the problems which English-majored students face when confronted directly with the course in literature at university,this study was conducted mainly through an analysis of student-and-teacher responses to questionnaires together with document analysis and reviews on the author’s experience in teaching and managing literary courses at his university.The sample includes 10 teachers in charge of the courses and 150 students attending these courses from five universities.The findings indicate that the teaching and learning of literature in the English language curriculum at these universities is facing certain problems,among which are:limited experience of mother tongue literature;limited experience of literary language;limited experience of English or American literature;and limited experience or knowledge of the world,life,people.From the implications identified,the findings of this paper are believed to yield further insights into the improvement of literature teaching and learning at university in Vietnamese contexts.
