Retrogradation of semi-dry rice noodles severely reduced their eating quality during storage.Three commonly used modified starches(oxidized starch,acetylated starch,and hydroxypropyl starch)were applied to investigate...Retrogradation of semi-dry rice noodles severely reduced their eating quality during storage.Three commonly used modified starches(oxidized starch,acetylated starch,and hydroxypropyl starch)were applied to investigate the anti-retrogradation effects of semi-dry rice noodles during cold storage.Loss of water content,migration of water,and increase in relative crystallinity,retrogradation enthalpy,and hardness could be retarded by adding chemically modified starches,especially hydroxypropyl starches.The effect of hydroxypropyl starch addition levels(2%,4%,6%,8%,and 10%)on the properties of rice flour and the edible quality of semi-dry rice noodles was further evaluated.The water solubility index of rice flour decreased with the addition of hydroxypropyl starch,while the swelling power showed the opposite trend.The quality of semi-dry rice noodles were improved with the addition of hydroxypropyl starch.Compared to the control,semi-dried rice noodles with 8%hydroxypropyl starch possessed superior properties,i.e.lower cooking loss(decreasing from 12.89%to 6.62%),lower adhesiveness(decreasing from 5.40 to 4.31 g·s),and higher hardness(rising from 10.89 to 13.81 N).These findings demonstrated that the incorporation of hydroxypropyl starch is a promising strategy for the preparation of semi-dry rice noodles with satisfactory cooking and edible qualities as well as a long shelf life.展开更多
In order to investigate the extraction efficiency of flavonoids by octenyl succinic acid-modified starch(OSA-modified starch)with varying molecular weights,the immature fruit of Citrus paradisi'Changshan Huyou'...In order to investigate the extraction efficiency of flavonoids by octenyl succinic acid-modified starch(OSA-modified starch)with varying molecular weights,the immature fruit of Citrus paradisi'Changshan Huyou',commonly known as"Quzhiqiao",was used as the extraction target in this research.OSA-modified starch was successfully identified and refined,ensuring its molecular weight was appropriate and extraction was optimized.The experimental findings suggested that a concentration of 20 mg/mL of medium molecular weight gelatinized OSA-modified starch was optimal for extracting flavonoids from"Quzhiqiao"using an ultrasound-assisted method(1,000 W,40 min).Additionally,the ratio of the mass of"Quzhiqiao"to the volume of gelatinized OSA-modified starch employed in this process was determined to be 15 mg/mL.The findings from the in vitro antioxidant studies indicated significant variations in the antioxidant activities of the extract solutions of OSA-modified starches with varying molecular weights.These differences can potentially be attributed to substantial variations in the extract solutions composition.展开更多

The TEM images showed that Li(Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3)O2 was modified successfully with nano-Al2O3. The discharge capacity retention of Al2O3-modified Li(Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3)O2 maintained about 99% after 200 cycles at high temperature(55 ℃), while that of the bare one was only 86%. Also, unlike bare Li(Ni0.5Co0.2Mn0.3)O2, the Al2O3-modified material cathode exhibited good thermal stability.展开更多

O...The primary interest to this study was to investigate the effect of milling parameters on the size of hydrophobically modified starch particles, aiming to produce small, uniformly sized modified starch microspheres. Octie, a commercial product originated from cornstarch modified using Octenyl Succinate Anhydride (OSA), was dispersed (3 wt%) using different media (water or ethanol) and subsequently wet-milled using a beads mill with zirconium beads at a rotation of 6,000 rpm up to 30 min. It was found that milling Octie in water dispersion for 3 min resulted in the smallest mean particle size (2.04 i 0.91 ktm), compared to unmilled modified starch granules (15.2 ~ 6.0 lam). Granular size and morphology changed considerably with further milling. For instance, very dense clusters with variable particle sizes (20.6 ~ 10.0 lam) were obtained after 30 min milling. As depicted by Scanning Electronic Microscopy, a large number of particles were apparently flattened during the milling process rather than broken, forming aggregates. Ultimately, within the range of experimental conditions tested, production of sub-micron modified starch particles was not possible.展开更多

[ Method] The content of CaMV35S promoter (parameter) in GTS40- 3-2 soybean powder samples was measured to estimate the measurement uncertainty preliminarily. [ Result] Type A uncertainty (uA) ' type B uncertainty (uB) and combined standard uncertainty (Uc) were 0.0 004, 0.002 and 0.002, respectively. At a confidence level ofp = 95% and freedom degree of Voff = 3 251, coverage factor k = 1.96, expanded uncertainty U = 0.004. The final measurement result was C = 0.028 ± 0. 004, which was dose to the conventional true value (0.03). Thus, the measurement uncertainty was relatively small, indicating a high quality of measurement. In this study, uncertainty evaluation indicated that the deviation of micro liquid transfer made the greatest contribution to the measurement uncertainty. Bio-degradable cassava starch-based adhesives were produced from chemically gelatinized starch formulations. The varying combinations of process parameters applied include: concentration of gelatinization modifier, ma...Bio-degradable cassava starch-based adhesives were produced from chemically gelatinized starch formulations. The varying combinations of process parameters applied include: concentration of gelatinization modifier, mass % borax/starch, and temperature of reaction mixture. The physico-chemical parameters for characterizing the adhesive samples were viscosity, density, pH and bonding strength. The effects of the variation of process parameters on the quality of the adhesives were assessed using response surface (central composite) designs with 2 factors, to relate the highest adhesive quality with the optimal combination of process factors. The adhesives produced using HCl as the gelatinization modifier were of a higher quality than those produced using NaOH with one of the most important quality assessment parameters which is the bond strength being 22.31 kPa at 0.01 M and 20% mass borax/starch and 11.60 kPa at 0.01 M and 8% mass borax/starch for HCl and NaOH respectively. The experimental results demonstrated that the optimal temperature for the production of the adhesive was 85˚C.展开更多
