This study, which spans the period from 1983 to 2022, makes use of data from NOAA, ERA5, and CRU. It employs a range of statistical techniques, including the calculation of standardized anomalies, significance testing, composites and correlation analyses. The results demonstrated an increase in NDVI over regions including Kenya, Central and Northeastern Tanzania during wet years, with significantly higher NDVI compared to drought years. Conversely, regions such as Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of western and southern Tanzania exhibited lower NDVI during wet years than in drought years, thereby underscoring the existence of significant regional differences in vegetation responses to climatic conditions. The results of the correlation analysis indicated that there was a negative correlation between NDVI and SLHF, air temperature, and soil temperature, while positive correlations were observed between NDVI and SSHF, precipitation, and soil moisture. Furthermore, teleconnections with large-scale climate indices demonstrated modest correlations: Niño 3.4 (r = 0.33), DMI (r = 0.11), and AMO (r = 0.03). These findings emphasize the pivotal role of climatic and meteorological factors in influencing vegetation dynamics, offering insights for sustainable land management and climate adaptation strategies in East Africa.展开更多

文摘Accurately predicting the powder factor during blasting is essential for sustainable production planning in low-grade mines. This research presents a method for predicting powder factor based on the heterogeneity of rock mass rating(RMR).Considering a low-grade metal mine as an example, this study exploited geostatistical methods to obtain independent RMR for each block unit.A three-dimensional spatial distribution model for the powder factor was developed on the basis of the relationships between the RMR and the powder factor.Subsequently, models for blasting cost and mining value were built and employed to optimize the open-pit limit. The multi-variable model based on the RMR performed well in predicting the powder factor, achieving a correlation coefficient of 0.88(root mean square error of 4.3)and considerably outperforming the uniaxial compressive strength model. After model optimization, the mean size and standard deviation of the fragments in the blast pile decreased by 8.5%and 35.1%,respectively,whereas the boulder yield and its standard deviation decreased by 33.3%and 58.8%,respectively.Additionally,optimizing the open-pit limit using this method reduced the amount of rock, increased the amount of ore,and lowered blasting costs, thereby enhancing the economic efficiency of the mine. This study provides valuable insights for blasting design and mining decisions, demonstrating the advantages and potential applications of powder factor prediction based on the heterogeneity of rock mass quality.

文摘Due to the influence of karst cave development and route selection, the location relationship between concealed karst cave and tunnel is more random. In order to explore the influence rule of karst cave location on the minimum safe thickness of water-proof rock mass,a simplified calculation model of water-proof rock mass thickness when the karst cave is located at any location around the tunnel is established, and the influence of multiple factors on the overall stability of water-proof rock mass is considered.Based on the cusp catastrophe theory, the analytical expressions for the safety thickness of waterproof rock mass are derived.Based on the finite difference principle, the analytical expressions of the safety thickness of water-proof rock mass are verified. In order to improve the application range of the analytical formula derived in this paper, the analytical formula is optimized based on the instability principle differences between the simplified calculation model and the elastic compressive bar.The research results show that the necessary condition solution is more applicable and much safer than the sufficient condition solution.Tectonic stress, rock beam length and karst cave water pressure are significantly positively correlated with the safe thickness of the waterproof rock mass. The calculated results of the semioptimized formula and the unoptimized formula are constant values, independent of the karst cave location. While the calculated results of the fully optimized formula are variable values, correlated with the karst cave location, the thickness of the waterproof rock mass gradually decreases as the karst cave location moves from the top of the tunnel to the bottom of the tunnel. The unoptimized formula does not consider the influence of the lateral force of the rock beam, and is not suitable for the working condition with large lateral force, the calculation results of the semi-optimized formula and the fully optimized formula are not very different and are biased to safety,so it can be given priority.

文摘Glacier mass balance is a key indicator of glacier health and climate change sensitivity.Influencing factors include both climatic and nonclimatic elements, forming a complex set of drivers. There is a lack of quantitative analysis of these composite factors, particularly in climate-typical regions like the Tanggula Mountains on the central Tibetan Plateau. We collected data on various factors affecting glacier mass balance from 2000 to 2020,including climate variables, topographic variables, geometric parameters, and glacier dynamics. We utilized linear regression models, ensemble learning models, and Open Global Glacier Model(OGGM)to analyze glacier mass balance changes in the Tanggula Mountains. Results indicate that linear models explain 58%of the variance in glacier mass balance, with seasonal temperature and precipitation having significant impacts. Our findings show that ensemble learning models made the explanations 5.2%more accurate by including the impact of topographic and geometric factors such as the average glacier height, the slope of the glacier tongue, the speed of the ice flow, and the area of the glacier.Interpretable machine learning identified the spatial distribution of positive and negative impacts of these characteristics and the interaction between glacier topography and ice dynamics. Finally,we predicted the responses of glaciers of different sizes to future climate change based on the results of interpretable machine learning. It was found that relatively large glaciers(>1 km~2)are likely to persist until the end of this century under low emission scenarios, whereas small glaciers(<1 km~2)are expected to nearly disappear by 2080 under any emission scenario. Our research provides technical support for improving glacier change modeling and protection on the Tibetan Plateau.

文摘The compositions and distributions of monoterpenes, isoprene, aromatics and sesquiterpene SOA tracers(SOAM,SOAI,SOAA and SOAS,respectively)at an island site(Da Wan Shan Island,DWS)were investigated in the context of the influence of continental and marine air masses over the Pearl River Estuary(PRE)region in winter 2021.The sum concentration of SOA tracers was 6.2–132.8 ng m^(−3),with SOAM and SOAI as the main components in both continental(scenarios A1 and A2)and marine air masses(scenario A3),as well as their combination(scenario A4).The highest and lowest levels of SOAM were observed in A1 and A3,respectively,which were mainly related to the variations in meteorological conditions, precursor concentrations, and the degree of photochemical processes.Higher MBTCA/HGA(3-methyl-1,2,3-butanetricarboxylic acid/3-hydroxyglutaric acid)ratios suggested a less significant contribution fromα-pinene to SOAM.The variations of SOAI in the different scenarios were associated with differences in relative humidity, particle acidity, and isoprene/NOx ratios. The respective highest and lowest concentrations of aromatics SOA tracers in A1 and A3 revealed the influence of anthropogenic precursors from upwind continental areas, which was confirmed by the correlation among biogenic and anthropogenic precursors. The results of the tracer-based-method suggested dominant contributions of SOAs from aromatics and monoterpenes, with the highest concentrations in A1.A WRF-Chem simulation revealed that the SOAs from the above precursors only contributed 12%–25%to the total SOA at DWS,while the spatial distributions of SOAs further highlighted that the abundance of SOAs over the PRE region in winter is highly associated with air masses transported from upwind continental areas.

文摘The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway, with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEMWE)emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen production.Despite remarkable advancements in this field, confronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy consumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEMWE systems remains a formidable obstacle. This impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles detachment. To address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis system.Compared to constant voltage electrolysis(hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h^(-1),energy consumption:5.37 kWh Nm-^(3)H_(2)),this strategy(hydrogen production rate:66 m L h^(-1),energy consumption:3.83 kWh Nm-^(3)H_(2))increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy consumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic(PV)system designed for outdoor operation, successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 V.The combined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis(PDE)dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode surface. As such,PDE-enhanced PEMWE represents a synergistic advancement, concurrently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport processes. This promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

文摘Purpose:The aim of this umbrella review was to determine the impact of resistance training(RT)and individual RT prescription variables on muscle mass, strength, and physical function in healthy adults. Methods:Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines,we systematically searched and screened eligible systematic reviews reporting the effects of differing RT prescription variables on muscle mass(or its proxies),strength,and/or physical function in healthy adults aged>18 years. Results:We identified 44 systematic reviews that met our inclusion criteria. The methodological quality of these reviews was assessed using A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews;standardized effectiveness statements were generated. We found that RT was consistently a potent stimulus for increasing skeletal muscle mass(4/4 reviews provide some or sufficient evidence),strength(4/6 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),and physical function(1/1 review provided some evidence).RT load(6/8 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),weekly frequency(2/4 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),volume(3/7 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),and exercise order(1/1 review provided some evidence)impacted RT-induced increases in muscular strength. We discovered that 2/3 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence that RT volume and contraction velocity influenced skeletal muscle mass, while 4/7 reviews provided insufficient evidence in favor of RT load impacting skeletal muscle mass. There was insufficient evidence to conclude that time of day,periodization,inter-set rest, set configuration, set end point, contraction velocity/time under tension,or exercise order(only pertaining to hypertrophy)influenced skeletal muscle adaptations.A paucity of data limited insights into the impact of RT prescription variables on physical function. Conclusion:Overall,RT increased muscle mass, strength, and physical function compared to no exercise.RT intensity(load)and weekly frequency impacted RT-induced increases in muscular strength but not muscle hypertrophy.RT volume(number of sets)influenced muscular strength and hypertrophy.
文摘The dot product of bases vectors on the super-surface of constraints of the nonlinear non-holonomic space and Mesherskii equations may act as the equations of fundamental dynamics of mechanical system for the variable mass. These are very simple and convenient for computation. From these known equations, the equations of Chaplygin,Nielson,Appell,Mac-Millan et al.are deriv d;it is unnecessary to introduce the definition if Appell-Chetaev or Niu Qinping for the virtual displacement. These are compatible with the D'Alembert-Lagrange's principle.

文摘This paper studies the Lie symmetries and Noether conserved quantities of discrete mechanical systems with variable mass. The discrete Euler-Lagrange equation and energy evolution equation are derived by using a total variational principle. The invariance of discrete equations under infinitesimal transformation groups is defined to be Lie symmetry. The condition of obtaining the Noether conserved quantities from the Lie symmetries is also presented. An example is discussed for applications of the results.

文摘El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)is a major driver of climate change in middle and low latitudes and thus strongly influences the terrestrial carbon cycle through land-air interaction. Both the ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability are projected to increase in the future, but their connection still needs further investigation. To investigate the impact of future ENSO modulation on carbon flux variability, this study used 10 CMIP6 earth system models to analyze ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability in middle and low latitudes, and their relationship, under different scenarios simulated by CMIP6 models. The results show a high consistency in the simulations, with both ENSO modulation and carbon flux variability showing an increasing trend in the future. The higher the emissions scenario, especially SSP5-8.5 compared to SSP2-4.5,the greater the increase in variability.Carbon flux variability in the middle and low latitudes under SSP2-4.5 increases by 30.9%compared to historical levels during 1951-2000,while under SSP5-8.5 it increases by 58.2%.Further analysis suggests that ENSO influences mid-and low-latitude carbon flux variability primarily through temperature. This occurrence may potentially be attributed to the increased responsiveness of gross primary productivity towards regional temperature fluctuations, combined with the intensified influence of ENSO on land surface temperatures.

文摘During the boreal summer, intraseasonal oscillations exhibit significant interannual variations in intensity over two key regions:the central-western equatorial Pacific(5°S-5°N,150°E-150°W)and the subtropical Northwestern Pacific(10°-20°N,130°E-175°W).The former is well-documented and considered to be influenced by the ENSO,while the latter has received comparatively less attention and is likely influenced by the Pacific Meridional Mode(PMM),as suggested by partial correlation analysis results. To elucidate the physical processes responsible for the enhanced(weakened)intraseasonal convection over the subtropical northwestern Pacific during warm(cold)PMM years, the authors employed a moisture budget analysis. The findings reveal that during warm PMM years, there is an increase in summer-mean moisture over the subtropical northwestern Pacific. This increase interacts with intensified vertical motion perturbations in the region, leading to greater vertical moisture advection in the lower troposphere and consequently resulting in convective instability.Such a process is pivotal in amplifying intraseasonal convection anomalies. The observational findings were further verified by model experiments forced by PMM-like sea surface temperature patterns.

文摘The protein connector enhancer of kinase suppressor of Ras 2(CNKSR2),present in both the postsynaptic density and cytoplasm of neurons,is a scaffolding protein with several protein-binding domains.Variants of the CNKSR2 gene have been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly intellectual disability, although the precise mechanism involved has not yet been fully understood.Research has demonstrated that CNKSR2 plays a role in facilitating the localization of postsynaptic density protein complexes to the membrane, thereby influencing synaptic signaling and the morphogenesis of dendritic spines. However, the function of CNKSR2 in the cytoplasm remains to be elucidated. In this study,we used immunoprecipitation and high-resolution liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify the interactors of CNKSR2.Through a combination of bioinformatic analysis and cytological experiments,we found that the CNKSR2 interactors were significantly enriched in the proteome of the centrosome. We also showed that CNKSR2 interacted with the microtubule protein DYNC1H1 and with the centrosome marker CEP290.Subsequent colocalization analysis confirmed the centrosomal localization of CNKSR2.When we downregulated CNKSR2 expression in mouse neuroblastoma cells(Neuro 2A),we observed significant changes in the expression of numerous centrosomal genes. This manipulation also affected centrosome-related functions, including cell size and shape, cell proliferation, and motility.Furthermore,we found that CNKSR2 interactors were highly enriched in de novo variants associated with intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. Our findings establish a connection between CNKSR2 and the centrosome, and offer new insights into the underlying mechanisms of neurodevelopmental disorders.
文摘The interannual variability of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) over East Africa demonstrates the complex interactions between vegetation dynamics and climatic factors. These findings emphasize the pivotal role of climatic and meteorological factors in influencing vegetation dynamics, offering insights for sustainable land management and climate adaptation strategies in East Africa.
