Iterative Signal Detection Based Soft Interference Cancellation for Satellite-Terrestrial Downlink NOMA Systems

To improve the bit error rate(BER)performance of multi-user signal detection in satelliteterrestrial downlink non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)systems,an iterative signal detection algorithm based on soft interference cancellation with optimal power allocation is proposed.Given that power allocation has a significant impact on BER performance,the optimal power allocation is obtained by minimizing the average BER of NOMA users.According to the allocated powers,successive interference cancellation(SIC)between NOMA users is performed in descending power order.For each user,an iterative soft interference cancellation is performed,and soft symbol probabilities are calculated for soft decision.To improve detection accuracy and without increasing the complexity,the aforementioned algorithm is optimized by adding minimum mean square error(MMSE)signal estimation before detection,and in each iteration soft symbol probabilities are utilized for soft-decision of the current user and also for the update of soft interference of the previous user.Simulation results illustrate that the optimized algorithm i.e.MMSE-IDBSIC significantly outperforms joint multi-user detection and SIC detection by 7.57dB and 8.03dB in terms of BER performance. 展开更多

This paper introduces an ant colony routing and wavelength assignment algorithm based on cross-layer design(CL-ACRWA),which can overcome the adverse effects of Doppler wavelength shift on data transmission in optical satellite networks. Firstly, a cross-layer optimization model is built, which considers the Doppler wavelength shift, the transmission delay as well as wavelength-continuity constraint. Then an ant colony algorithm is utilized to solve the cross-layer optimization model, resulting in finding an optimal light path satisfying the above constraints for every connection request. The performance of CL-ACRWA is measured by the communication success probability, the convergence property and the transmission delay. Simulation results show that CL-ACRWA performs well in communication success probability and has good global search ability as well as fast convergence speed. Meanwhile, the transmission delay can meet the basic requirement of real-time transmission of business. 展开更多

Studying orbital angular momentum(OAM) spectra is important for analyzing crosstalk in free-space optical(FSO)communication systems. This work offers a new method of simplifying the expressions for the OAM spectra of Laguerre-Gaussian(LG) beams under both weak/medium and strong atmospheric turbulences. We propose fixing the radius to the extreme point of the intensity distribution, review the expression for the OAM spectrum under weak/medium turbulence,derive the OAM spectrum expression for an LG beam under strong turbulence, and simplify both of them to concise forms.Then, we investigate the accuracy of the simplified expressions through simulations. We find that the simplified expressions permit accurate calculation of the OAM spectrum for large transmitted OAM numbers under any type of turbulence. Finally,we use the simplified expressions to analytically address the broadening of the OAM spectrum caused by atmospheric turbulence. This work should contribute to the concise theoretical derivation of analytical expressions for OAM channel matrices for FSO-OAM communications and the analytical study of the laws governing OAM spectra. 展开更多

Photonic crystal structures have excellent optical properties,so they are widely studied in conventional optical materials.Recent research shows that high-temperature superconducting periodic structures have natural photonic crystal features and they are favourable candidates for single-photon detection.Considering that superconductors have completely different properties from conventional optical materials,we study the energy level diagram and mid-infrared 3μm–5μm transmission spectrum of two-dimensional superconducting photonic crystals in both superconducting and quenched states with the finite element method.The energy level diagram of the circular crystal column superconducting structure shows that the structure has a large band gap width in both states.At the same fill factor,the circular crystal column superconducting structure has a larger band gap width than the others structures.For lattice structures,the zero transmission point of the square lattice structure is robust to the incident angle and environmental temperature.Our research has guiding significance for the design of new material photonic crystals,photon modulation and detection. 展开更多

With the development of satellite communication,in order to solve the problems of shortage of on-board resources and refinement of delay requirements to improve the communication performance of satellite optical networks,this paper proposes a bee colony optimization algorithm for routing and wavelength assignment based on directional guidance(DBCO-RWA)in satellite optical networks.In D-BCORWA,directional guidance based on relative position and link load is defined,and then the link cost function in the path search stage is established based on the directional guidance factor.Finally,feasible solutions are expanded in the global optimization stage.The wavelength utilization,communication success probability,blocking rate,communication hops and convergence characteristic are simulated.The results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is improved compared with existing algorithms. 展开更多

By combining the good charge transport property of graphene and the excellent photo-carrier generation char-acteristic of perovskite nanocrystal,we propose and demonstrate an ionic-gated synaptic transistor based on CsPbBr_(3)∕graphene heterojunction for bipolar photoresponse.Controlling the potential barrier of the CsPbBr_(3)∕graphene heterojunction by the ionic-gate of the electrical double-layer effect can promote the sepa-ration of photogenerated carriers and effectively retard their recombination.Using the ionic-gate-tunable Fermi level of graphene and the pinning effect of perovskite nanocrystal,the bipolar photocurrent responses correspond-ing to the excitatory and inhibitory short-term and long-term plasticity are realized by adjusting the negative gate bias.A series of synaptic functions including logic operation,Morse coding,the optical memory and electrical erasure effect,and light-assisted re-learning have also been demonstrated in an optoelectronic collaborative path-way.Furthermore,the excellent optical synaptic behaviors also contribute to the handwritten font recognition accuracy of-95%in artificial neural network simulations.The results pave the way for the fabrication of bipolar photoelectric synaptic transistors and bolster new directions in the development of future integrated human ret-inotopic vision neuromorphic systems. 展开更多

Electromagnetic waves carrying an orbital angular momentum (OAM) are of great interest. However, most OAM antennas presentdisadvantages such as a complicated structure, low efficiency, and large divergence angle, which prevents their practicalapplications. So far, there are few papers and research focuses on the problem of the divergence angle. Herein, a metasurfaceantenna is proposed to obtain the OAM beams with a small divergence angle. The circular arrangement and phase gradient wereused to simplify the structure of the metasurface and obtain the small divergence angle, respectively. The proposed metasurfaceantenna presents a high transmission coefficient and effectively decreases the divergence angle of the OAM beam. All thetheoretical analyses and derivation calculations were validated by both simulations and experiments. This compact structurepaves the way to generate OAM beams with a small divergence angle. 展开更多

This paper proposes a hybrid layered asymmetrically clipped optical(HLACO) single-carrier frequency-division multiplexing(SCFDM) scheme for dimmable visible light communication. It designs a signal structure that combines layered asymmetrically clipped optical(LACO)-SCFDM and negative LACO-SCFDM in proportion for improving the inherent weaknesses of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing(OFDM)-based dimmable schemes and further enhancing the system performance. Compared to the HLACO-OFDM-based dimming scheme, it obtains a lower bit error ratio and enables efficient communication over broader dimming range. Its spectral efficiency realizes 2.875 bit·s^(-1)·Hz^(-1) within the dimming range of 30%–70%, and the attainable average spectral efficiency gains exceed at least 19.21% compared to other traditional dimmable schemes. 展开更多

Underwater optical wireless communication,which is useful for oceanography,environmental monitoring,and underwater surveillance,suffers the limit of the absorption attenuation and Mie–Rayleigh scattering of the lights.Here,Bessel-like beams generated by a fiber microaxicon is utilized for underwater wireless propagation.Underwater,the cone angle for generating Bessel-like beams starts from 46°,which is smaller than that in air for Bessel-like beams.When the cone angle of the fiber microaxicons is about 140°,the depth of focus underwater,which is four times as long as the depth of focus in air,has enlarged about 28μm,36.12μm,and 50.7μm for 470 nm,520 nm,and 632 nm visible lights.The transmission distance of the Bessel beams for visible lights has been simulated by using Henyey–Greenstein–Rayleigh phase function methods and spectral absorption by bio-optical model due to Monte Carlo methods.The results show that the propagation distance could reach 4000 m,which overcome the limit of the Mie–Rayleigh scattering and absorption attenuation underwater. 展开更多
