This paper develops a conceptual model and an indicator system for measuring economic resilience of resource-based cities based on the theory of evolutionary resilience and the related concepts of persistence, adaptat...This paper develops a conceptual model and an indicator system for measuring economic resilience of resource-based cities based on the theory of evolutionary resilience and the related concepts of persistence, adaptation, and transformation. Nineteen resource-based cities in Northeast China were analyzed using the indicator system. The results showed that Liaoning and Jilin provinces had higher economic resilience than Heilongjiang Province. Panjin, Benxi, and Anshan in Liaoning Province were the top three cities, while Shuangyashan and other coal-based cities in Heilongjiang Province ranked last. Metals-and petroleum-based cities had significantly higher resilience than coal-based cities. The differences in persistence, adaptability, transformation, and resilience among resource-based cities decreased since the introduction of the Northeast Revitalization Strategy in 2003. Forestry-based cities improved the most in terms of resilience, followed by metals-based and multiple-resource cities; however, resilience dropped for coal-based cities, and petroleum-based cities falling the most. The findings illustrate the importance and the way to develop a differentiated approach to improve resilience among resource-based cities.展开更多

HDV gene fragment encoding HDAg was isolated from a Chinese patient infecte...A simple rapid detection of antibody to hepatitis delta virus (anti-HDV) in human serum was developed by using double antigen sandwich ELISA. HDV gene fragment encoding HDAg was isolated from a Chinese patient infected with HDV by RT-PCR, and a high-efficient expression HD-PQE31 strain was constructed with the fragment. We obtained high titer and good quality hepatitis delta virus protein purified by Ni-NTA metal-affinity chromatography, which was identified by Western blot and ELISA, then we set up the double antigen sandwich ELISA for detection of anti-HDV in human serum, and the performance of the sandwich ELISA was evaluated in terms of specificity and sensitivity. Results were: 1) The purified HDAg protein’s purity was 90%, and its ELISA titer was 1/100 000. 2) 42 anti-HDV positive sera were detected and showed that the sensitivity of sandwich ELISA was higher than that of competitive ELISA (t=2.44, p<0.01). 3) The inhibitory rates for 2 anti-HDV positive sera by the specific HDAg were 74% and 93% respectively. 4) For the assay of specificity, all 60 samples infected by other hepatitis viruses and 30 normal samples were negative for anti-HDV. These results suggested that the double antigen sandwich ELISA with purified recombinant HDAg showed higher specificity and sensitivity, It can be used in routine laboratories to diagnose the HDV infection.展开更多

This study tested the effect of ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) strips on aphid and la- dybird populations in adjacent winter wheat fields. The field experiment was conducted in three ryegrass-margin wheat plots and three control plots in 2010 in North China. In spring, the same aphid species, Sitobion miscanthi (Takahashi), was found in both the ryegrass strips and wheat plots. The population density of ladybirds in the ryegrass strips (3.5 4- 0.9/m2) was significantly higher than in the wheat plots (1.5 4- 0.5/m2). We cut the ryegrass, forcing the ladybirds to migrate to the wheat fields. Three and eight days after cutting the ryegrass, the aphid numbers in the ryegrass-margin wheat plots decreased significantly: they were 19.9% and 53.6%, respectively, lower than in control plots. In the early period of ladybird population development, the percentage of larvae was greater in the ryegrass-margin wheat plots than in controls, and the peak number of pupae in the ryegrass-margin wheat plots occurred 5 days earlier than in the control plots. The results suggest that ryegrass strips may promote the development of ladybird populations. Cutting ryegrass can manipulate ladybirds to enhance biological aphid control in wheat fields. The efficiency of this management approach is discussed.展开更多

Soluble Hf-containing polymers are significant processable precursors for the fabrication of ultra-high temperature ceramics.In this work,cyclic Hf-Schiff base polymers were synthesized via direct polymerization of ha...Soluble Hf-containing polymers are significant processable precursors for the fabrication of ultra-high temperature ceramics.In this work,cyclic Hf-Schiff base polymers were synthesized via direct polymerization of hafnium alkoxide and bis-salen monomers.The defined structure and molecular weight of the polymers were characterized by NMR spectroscopy,gel permeation chromatography and MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy.The feed ratio of monomers regulated the molecular weight and solubility of the polymers.This synthetic strategy features simple operation under ambient conditions,efficient reaction with high yield and cyclic polymers as the main products.The Hf-Schiff base polymers were converted to HfC/C materials after pyrolysis under argon at 1600°C,which was identified by XRD measurements,elemental analyses and Raman spectroscopy.This work will inspire more precise and efficient synthesis and applications of metallopolymers.展开更多
Credit scoring is one of the key problems in financial risk managements.This paper studies the credit scoring problem based on the set-valued identification method,which is used to explain the relation between the ind...Credit scoring is one of the key problems in financial risk managements.This paper studies the credit scoring problem based on the set-valued identification method,which is used to explain the relation between the individual attribute vectors and classification for the credit worthy and credit worthless lenders.In particular,system parameters are estimated by the set-valued identification algorithm based on a given recognition criteria.In order to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method,practical experiments are conducted for credit card applicants of Australia and credit card holders from Taiwan,respectively.The empirical results show that the set-valued model has a higher prediction accuracy on both small and large numbers of data set compared with logistic regression model.Furthermore,parameters estimated by the set-valued identification method are more stable,which provide a meaningful and logical explanation for extracting factors that influence the borrowers’credit scorings.展开更多

We explore the gravitational waves emitted from binary neutron star mergers using the pseudoconformal mod...Topological structure has been extensively studied and confirmed in highly correlated condensed matter physics. We explore the gravitational waves emitted from binary neutron star mergers using the pseudoconformal model for dense nuclear matter for compact stars. This model considers the topology change and the possible emergent scale symmetry and satisfies all the constraints from astrophysics. We find that the location of the topology change affects gravitational waves dramatically owing to its effect on the equation of state. In addition, the effect of this location on the waveforms of the gravitational waves is within the ability of the on-going and up-coming facilities for detecting gravitational waves, thus suggesting a possible way to measure the topology structure in nuclear physics.展开更多
The first search for the doubly heavyΩ^(0)_(bc)baryon and a search for the E^(0)_(bc)baryon are performed using pp collision data collected via the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 T...The first search for the doubly heavyΩ^(0)_(bc)baryon and a search for the E^(0)_(bc)baryon are performed using pp collision data collected via the LHCb experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 fb^(-1).The baryons are reconstructed via their decays to Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-)and E^(+)_(c)π^(-).No significant excess is fbund for invariant masses between 6700 and 7300 MeV/c^(2),in a rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and a transverse momentum range from 2 to 20 MeV/c.Upper limits are set on the ratio of the Ω^(0)_(bc)and E^(0)_(bc)production cross-section times the branching fraction to Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-)(E^(+)_(c)π^(-))relative to that of the Λ^(0)_(b)(E^(0)_(b))baryon,for different lifetime hypotheses,at 95%confidence level.The upper limits range from 0.5 x 10^(-4)to 2.5 x 10^(-4)for theΩ^(0)_(bc)→Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-)(E^(0)_(bc)→Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-))decay,and from 1.4x 10^(-3)to 6.9 x 10^(-3)for theΩ^(0)_(bc)→E^(+)_(c)π^(-)(E^(0)_(bc)→E^(+)_(c)π^(-))decay,depending on the considered mass and lifetime of theΩ^(0)_(bc)(E^(0)_(bc))baryon.展开更多
