Eastern Qinling,China is one of the important rare metal metallogenic provinces with extensively distributed granite pegmatite dikes.The No.5 granite pegmatite intruded into the granitic gneiss of the Qinling Group,an...Eastern Qinling,China is one of the important rare metal metallogenic provinces with extensively distributed granite pegmatite dikes.The No.5 granite pegmatite intruded into the granitic gneiss of the Qinling Group,and the major minerals are quartz(39.8%),K-feldspar(18.8%),albite(36.3%),muscovite(3.4%),and garnet(1.1%).Monazite U–Pb isotopic dating indicates that the No.5 pegmatite from the Eastern Qinling was emplaced at ca.420.2±2.2 Ma,which confirms that highpurity quartz mineralization probably formed during the Early Devonian.In-situ laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry analysis of quartz show that quartz samples from Eastern Qinling have total trace element concentrations(Al,Ti,Sc,Li,B,Cr,Mn,and Fe)ranging from 23.2 to 52.8 ppm,slightly higher than the quartz(impurity element content from 13.4 to 25.9 ppm)of the Spruce Pine high-purity quartz deposit in western North Carolina.The No.5 pegmatite of Eastern Qinling could be defined as one high-purity quartz deposit of China.展开更多
Functionalized ionic liquids(FILs)as extractants were employed for the separation of tungsten and molybdenum from a sulfate solution for the first time.The effects of initial pH,extractant concentration,metal concentr...Functionalized ionic liquids(FILs)as extractants were employed for the separation of tungsten and molybdenum from a sulfate solution for the first time.The effects of initial pH,extractant concentration,metal concentrations in the feed were comprehensively investigated.The results showed that tricaprylmethylammonium bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)phosphinate([A336][Cyanex272])could selectively extract W over Mo at an initial pH value of 5.5;the best separation factorβ_(W/Mo) of 25.61 was obtained for a solution with low metal concentrations(WO3:2.49 g/L,Mo:1.04 g/L).The[A336][Cyanex272]system performed effectively for solutions of different W/Mo molar ratios and different metal ion concentrations in the feed.The chemical reaction between[A336][Cyanex272]and W followed the ion association mechanism,which was further proved by the Fourier-transform infrared(FTIR)spectra of loaded[A336][Cyanex272]and the free extractant.The stripping experiments indicated that 95.48%W and 100.00%Mo were stripped using a 0.20 mol/L sodium hydroxide solution.Finally,the selective extractions of W and Mo from two synthetic solutions of different high metal concentrations were obtained;the separation factorβW/Mo reached 23.24 and 17.59 for the first and second solutions,respectively.The results suggest the feasibility of[A336][Cyanex272]as an extractant for the separation of tungsten and molybdenum.展开更多
The extraction kinetics of La(III) from aqueous chloride solutions into n-heptane solutions of bifunctional ionic liquid extractant [A336][CA-12](tricaprylmethylammonium sec-octylphenoxy acetic acid) was investigated ...The extraction kinetics of La(III) from aqueous chloride solutions into n-heptane solutions of bifunctional ionic liquid extractant [A336][CA-12](tricaprylmethylammonium sec-octylphenoxy acetic acid) was investigated using a constant interfacial cell with laminar flow. The effects of stirring speed, temperature and specific interfacial area on the extraction rate were examined. The results indicate that mass transfer kinetics of La(III) is a mixed-controlled process influenced by interfacial reaction. On the basis of mass transfer kinetic results in the extraction of La(III) by [A336][CA-12], the extraction rate equation of La(III) is proposed in terms of pseudo-firstorder constants, which is supported by the measured thermodynamic equations. The mass-transfer kinetic model deduced from the rate controlling step is adequate to interpret the experimental data qualitatively.展开更多

To improve the oxidation and graphitization resistances of the polycrystalline diamond(PCD), Ti coating was deposited on the diamond powders via magnetic sputtering method, which achieved a uniform Ti C protection bar...To improve the oxidation and graphitization resistances of the polycrystalline diamond(PCD), Ti coating was deposited on the diamond powders via magnetic sputtering method, which achieved a uniform Ti C protection barrier in PCD during the sintering process. The phase compositions, microstructures and thermal stability of Ti-PCD were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Auger electron spectroscopy(AES),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and thermal gravimetric-differential scanning calorimetry(TG-DSC).The results demonstrate that the oxidation and graphitization resistances of PCD are strengthened due to the existence of Ti C phase, which acts as an effective inhibitor. The as-received inhibitor delays the oxidation and graphitization of PCD, elevating their initial temperature by ~50°C and ~100°C, respectively. During the annealing treatment of Ti-PCD, the priory oxidation of Ti C, which produces Ti O2 as an oxygen barrier, postpones the diamond oxide. Moreover, the Ti C barrier also protects diamond grains from direct contact with cobalt, thus a lower cobalt-catalytic graphitization, and yields to an improved graphitization resistance of PCD. The enhanced oxidation and graphitization resistances of PCD are of significant importance for practical applications to elevated temperatures.展开更多
The giant Dahutang tungsten(W)deposit has a total reserve of more than 1.31 Mt WO3.Veinlet-disseminated scheelite and vein type wolframite mineralization are developed in this deposit,which are related to Late Mesozoi...The giant Dahutang tungsten(W)deposit has a total reserve of more than 1.31 Mt WO3.Veinlet-disseminated scheelite and vein type wolframite mineralization are developed in this deposit,which are related to Late Mesozoic biotite granite.Four major types of alterations,which include albitization,potassic-alteration,and greisenization,and overprinted silicification developed in contact zone.The mass balance calculate of the four alteration types were used to further understanding of the mineralization process.The fresh porphyritic biotite granite has high Nb,Ta,and W,but low Ca and Sr while the Jiuling granodiorite has high Ca and Sr,but low Nb,Ta,and W concentrations.The altered porphyritic biotite granite indicated that the Nb,Ta,and W were leached out from the fresh porphyritic biotite granite,especially by sodic alteration.The low Ca and Sr contents of the altered Neoproterozoic Jiuling granodiorite indicate that Ca and Sr had been leached out from the fresh granodiorite by the fluid from Mesozoic porphyritic biotite granites.The metal W of the Dahutang deposit was mainly derived from the fluid exsolution from the melt and alteration of W-bearing granites.This study of alteration presents a new hydrothermal circulation model to understand tungsten mineralization in the Dahutang deposit.展开更多

Here, a dynamic simulation approach is proposed to study the formation of particle sphericity during agglomeration by investigating both the orbit and attitude of non-spherical particles in a rotary drum. First, geometric crite- ria are presented to substitute a dual-sphere particle model for the commonly encountered ellipsoidal particle model assuming the long radius of the dual-sphere particle is equal to that of the ellipsoidal particle. Next, a discrete element method is applied to calculate the positions and orientations of dual- sphere particles during granulation. The relationship between shape and attitude in the dual-sphere model is then analyzed by comparing the obtained orientation angle-oblateness curves. A conclusion can be drawn that the particle orientation angle decreases with increasing particle oblateness within a certain range.展开更多

The separation process includes two-stage grinding, gravity concentration, magnetic separation, and flotation. The tan- talum/niobium concentrate obtained had a grade of Ta2O5 18.28%, Nb2O5 41.62% at a recovery rate of Ta2O5 49.08%, Nb205 70.77%. Other minerals occurring along with the niobite, such as zinnwaldite, feld- spar, and quartz, were also recovered to comprehensively utilize this ore.展开更多
The Bancheng Formation exposed along the Shift Reservoir nearby Bancheng Town, Qinfang Basin, southern Guangxi, is mainly composed of thin-bedded chert. The radiolarian assemblages in the studied section suggest it wa...The Bancheng Formation exposed along the Shift Reservoir nearby Bancheng Town, Qinfang Basin, southern Guangxi, is mainly composed of thin-bedded chert. The radiolarian assemblages in the studied section suggest it was a pelagic setting and the age of the Bancheng Formation is Late Carboniferous to Early Permian. The detrital zircon U-Pb ages from the section are characterized by a Permian peak at -282 Ma. Detrital zircon provenance analysis suggests that the Permian detrital zircons in the Bancheng Formation were likely from volcanic-magmatic arc rocks related to the subducfton of the Paleo-Tethyan Ocean. The long-lived deposition (from Upper Devonian to Middle Permian, about 125 Ma) of the radiolarian cherts in the Qinfang Basin was comparable with that deposited in Ailaoshan Ocean. The radiolarian assemblages in Qinfang Basin show a Tethyan affinity. Together with the Permian subduction-related arc volcanic rocks and the E-MORB type basalts to the northwest of the study area, our data support the existence of a Permian arc-related basin in the Qinfang area.展开更多
